I grew up in key calker i still have vivid memories how to work those flats basically a catch every cast
ОтветитьGreat show. Also nice to see no sharks waiting for a tired fish.
ОтветитьExcellent I fresh water flyfish must try saltwater sometime. Cheers from Saskatchewan
ОтветитьI generally use either a 5 wt or 7 wt for a lot of my flats fishing. Two of the largest bones were caught on 5 wt and they gave a workout , but definitely landed them , 26-28 inch fish that I would estimate over 5-7 lbs. The longtime guide I have used numerous times originally told me no one used a 5 wt there, after a day of fishing he said there were a few souls that he guided that used a 5 there, Lefty and Lee were two of them. Ever since the first time , he always insists we bring the 5 along when the wind isn’t too much. I put the rod in his hands one afternoon and after adjusting so as not to overpower the rod he was convinced he needed to get one. When I asked him who had taught him to fly fish, he said Lee and Joan Wullf were his mentors.
ОтветитьI know I will never be able to fish in the flats, but I love the setting about those trips. Warm weather, blue sea and fishing. Great video
ОтветитьHi there. Just finally caught my first bonefish. Thanks for the video.
ОтветитьJacks are like rabid dogs. I personally think they are the most underrated saltwater species. I believe they fight harder than permit, as well.
ОтветитьAmazing stuff, this video has taught me loads for my trip in a few months to Cuba. I am so excited for this trip of a life time catching the fish of my childhood dreams. Keep up the great work and Tite Lines G
ОтветитьThere's a reason he's wearing a light blue long sleeve hoodie; to blend in with the light blue sky. Looks like so much fun.
ОтветитьLess is more absolutely!
ОтветитьGreat stuff, mark and Tom have fished everywhere, and still get so excited it’s awesome. That tarpon was a beauty, well played.

Ответитьmy dad is gowing there tomorrow
Ответитьwhat's the purpose of 40# tippet ?
ОтветитьHave fished here a few times but years ago, once years before the lodge was built. Great permit and tarpon spot! Nice video.
ОтветитьFish comes out of the water rod and reel go right under !! What are you doing ? Yeah I’m sure it’s sealed drag and all that! But no one ever taught you to respect your gear and it’ll respect you !?
Ответитьawesome video. well done, Q: what's the best flies you used for this trip?
ОтветитьThe trifecta! Thrill of a lifetime for sure.
ОтветитьBONEFISH the illusive grey ghost
ОтветитьNice!!
ОтветитьFor a fly tosser, A bucket list item for sure!!!!!!!!
ОтветитьI wish “experts” would please stop touching the fish and holding them out of the water. Sets a bad example for those new to fly fishing.
Ответить“He came right over and ate it. They don’t always do that...” lol. Legend.
ОтветитьI love the color on your nose Mark.
ОтветитьLooks like a great place to fish, but the price is probably out of my range. Now if there were an RV park nearby.....
ОтветитьGreat video...looking forward to hearing Tom speak at the GRTU Troutfest in Texas next month!

ОтветитьWhat was your go to rod and reel combo on this trip?
ОтветитьMark, dude, awesome!!!
ОтветитьAmazing footage guys and an amazing destination!
I did a DIY on Long Caye in Belize a decade ago and there I caught my first bonefish on the fly. I have been an addict ever since.
I too reside in Southern Ontario and have actually had the pleasure of crossing paths with you Mark while fishing on the Grand in Fergus.
Please keep vids coming, especially in the salt!
