Do you think some paints blend better than others?
ОтветитьVery helpful and great explanation using the pyramid example! Thanks!
Ответитьive been painting smaller mini's like 2 and a half to 3 inches theres not alot of surface area for things like this do you have any vidoes or material you would suggest i look at to learn more
ОтветитьDefinitely need to give this video ago next time im painting!
ОтветитьHey I see a lot of scale75 :)
ОтветитьI have watched a ton of videos on layering and glazing. This video just made it click so easily. Thank you very much.
ОтветитьGreat video! Super helpful, clear, and concise. I really appreciated how you showed how glazing works.
ОтветитьUmmm...videos/tutorials are great...I love your cat!
ОтветитьMore cat beans please!
Ответитьcan you just water down the paint to get a glaze?
ОтветитьLyla, great tutorials - I just found your page. You have a real knack for simplifying an explanation - which is what makes a great teacher. Any tips on painting really tiny miniatures (less than one inch). Also, why do you paint on the back of your hand? It is 'handy' groan, but is there another reason. Thanks for the lessons - liked and subscribed.
Ответитьyou stated that you start with your mid-tone color... is that the same as your base color from which the shadows (added black) and highlights (added white) are built from?
i REALLY enjoy your videos... very informative and you explain things very well
The cat cracked me up. I liked how you presented this, and learned a lot. thanks
ОтветитьThank you
ОтветитьAwesome video. Keep up the good work. Model looks great. Keep up the good work.
ОтветитьYour kitty is adorable. Oh, and amazing tutorial, thank you.
ОтветитьIt is incredibly! You are probably one of the goddesses of the pantheon of learning how to paint miniatures.
ОтветитьAwesome video! I am learning a lot from you. There is one thing I am struggling with though. I have slight colour blindness and always have trouble deciding which colour to mix with what to get a smooth gradient. So I usually stick with the Citadel system, where it goes Base, mid-layer, top-layer. But I would love to go more freestyle and be more free (freedom is nice!). So I would need advice on choosing the correct colours for each tone and shadow areas. Or do I just use the Colour Wheel and use the opposite colours for the deep shadows and the neighbors for the darker and lighter parts?
Sorry if my question is a bit obvious for most painters, but with my colour blindness I really cannot rely on my senses and need something to hold on to.
Such a great video. Thank you!
ОтветитьWhat lamp are you using as your lighting source? Thanks!
ОтветитьThanks 🙏🏻
ОтветитьMadame Witch. May I ask what if anything is used in the non glazed paints to thin them? Just a tiny tip of the brush of water? A whole soaked brush tip of water? Oh and is that a wet palette? Looks dry. Maybe mine is too wet underneath. Although I don’t think it is.
ОтветитьHi Lyla, I’m new to your videos, which are great! I must say I was a little surprised when you swore. You are very eloquent and I feel you don’t need to swear to emphasise a point.
I wish you all the very best!
Regards,
TCC
This was amazing! I was just struggling with blending colors on a cloak this evening. This tutorial showed me exactly what I was doing wrong. Thank you!
ОтветитьFinally, explained plain and simple. Tkank you
ОтветитьIncredible work. I'm sticking to boring, techniques and almost never glazing gradients.
ОтветитьI was watching a video from another painter who said they only use layering for "easy, super smooth transitions" and rarely use any glazing to smooth it out. And they appear to only be using the same 4-5 layers of color that you do. Do you always use glazing after your layers when doing a gradation? Or is that maybe just a recommendation for beginners (like me) who might not be able to get it all done with just layering?
ОтветитьI'm just now getting really comfortable painting, and this is exactly what I needed to up the difficulty 👍
ОтветитьI love the paper stacks. Great example.
ОтветитьDoes anyone know if it’s best to use a glaze brush for glazing? Or stick to my no1 normal brush?
ОтветитьThis is another older video of yours but I just love your videos what fun and I love the part about how you F@%* your models LOL. 🙂Thomas over at The Model Hobbyist
ОтветитьEnjoyed your video, thanks for sharing. Easy to follow and put your lessons into practice.
ОтветитьI love your method of teaching!! Thank you! : )
ОтветитьThank you for the explanation of how layering and glazing are actually done! And the wonderful examples! I was struggling a bit with the layering, but now I see how layering and glazing work together to get a nice gradation! One of my practice minis has a big robe and it is too dark. I couldn't figure out how to get it to lighten up without just random streaks/areas of different shades. Now I get it! Except I need to buy me some glazing medium! 😄
Ответитьbest tutorial on layering I've seen. Thank you, cleared up a couple of points I have been getting wrong :)
ОтветитьI'm two minutes into this and the words she's using to describe painting may as well be in another language lol
ОтветитьReal light bulb moment - great video thank you
Ответить+1 respect point for the f-bomb. That was out of left field and I'm here for it.
ОтветитьIt's crazy how good of a tutorial this is! Something like the color cut-out paper makes it easy to visualize what you're explaining.
ОтветитьI just got started doing 1/35 scale soldiers. Trying to get past the monochrome color for the uniform and work in some shade and light. This should help. Thanks.
ОтветитьI learned so much from watching you blend gradients of paint! It's something I've been struggling with and seeing how you do it is so helpful!
Ответитьi love your vids ..i am a old painter that hasnt done it for over 20 years and am having to retrain myself in how to do it ..and battling very bad eyesite dont know when that happened...never needed eye assistance in the old days..keep up the great work i am learning alot from you xx
ОтветитьThanks
ОтветитьWith all the mixing of paint sometimes I might run out of a color I'm using. I struggle to get the same color mixed up again. Do you have any tips for this?
ОтветитьOne of the best painting tutorials I've seen so far. Very useful information :) I'm going to have to take some notes
ОтветитьFirst and foremost - thank you so much for this video. I never understood how glazing works and now I can't wait to get a bottle of medium and give it a go!
One question though - do you apply the glaze when the underlying layers are dried up or when they are still wet? Maybe I missed it but I didn't get that from the video.
Thank you again!
fantastic video... and even if it wasn't it deserves a like for the adorable fluff-mitten
ОтветитьIs glazing minimum same as medium?
ОтветитьThank you for this tutorial! I'm on the autistic spectrum and glazing tutorials have never clicked for me before, but now I think I get it!
