Radiohead was beyond my time. I only really liked the song Creep. Naturally, me being near 70, my taste in music is heavily 60s and 70s. There are a few bands and songs past that point I have in playlists.

Great reaction guys!! Love me some Radiohead - and have since they first came out. They're a tough group to pigeon hole into one type of sound, because they do it all!
Street Spirit has been my #1 track of theirs since it came out (nearly 30 years ago! Geez I feel old) - something about it's sombre, melancholic vibe spoke to me then (angsty teen perhaps - but I've always been drawn to the minor keys!), plus it's lyrics.
OK Computer is my favourite album, but The Bends has some of my most favourite songs.
Cheers!

Love Radiohead, love your channel, love your appreciation of Bowie.
However, I really f**king baulk at the mention of "capitalism" and "oppression" that these guys apparently were referring to in their lyrics. It's all bollocks, forgive me but I can't take that sort of bullshit from multi millionaire, Oxbridge educated, privileged musicians. Just f**k off, they're as irritating as Coldplay if that's the case. Bowie remained cool full stop, because he came from a true working class background. Oh, and guess what, he didn't preach politics he grew up to be a capitalist.

If you are in your 30s or 40s and aren't aware of The Bends, that is classified as musical illiteracy.

There will never be a band like this ever again. Will we ever get a final 10th album? I feel like we will, but there is plenty to enjoy in their existing work. Very special band.

They really don't like to repeat themselves so you will often see a lot of variation from album to album and often even on the same record. At the time this album came out they were really starting to spread their wings and leaving Creep far behind and they continue to change their sound and do a lot of genre blending. Their journey reminds me a lot of the Beatles they constantly refuse to be put in a neat little box and always made the music they wanted to make with less pressure on them thanks to the success of OK Computer.

Funnily enough, Street Spirit is my dad's favourite Radiohead song. Found it funny when you said "This is not your father's Radiohead" lol
