the "i thought you had to be born with talent to draw" is why i despise "wow, you're really talented" as a compliment. it completely disregards the grueling years of sweat, self-doubt, tears and rage quit moments that fly by because you're an artist at heart, and instead attributes the skill to some free gift you happened to be born with, no effort needed.
ОтветитьYeah, I do the outlining thing too lol. For years I've been trying to figure out how to get more movement and how to develop from just outlining. This helps a lot. It makes sense too. I have looked at so many books about sketching, but I don't understand the long boring instructions on muscles and details. They never helped me, but thanks to you I now know what I am missing! I am watching this video at the perfect time because I was thinking of quitting after so many years of going nowhere. Thank You!!!!
Also its so cool how much art you do for other big companies.
Great improvement my dude
ОтветитьYou could have benefited from soon anatomy lessons.
Ответить"No talent" is just click-bait and unabridged bullshit. You have to have some level of talent. End of story.
ОтветитьHonestly, this is so strange to hear he didn't know how to learn to draw. The Internet already existed then as well as libraries...
ОтветитьIt has been a lifelong dream for me to be able to make my own art and stories. The barrier I'm running into is that I have zero drawing ability. I keep seeing these art tutorials that show someone learning to draw and they're already 20 steps ahead of me with no practice. It made me feel similar to you that maybe this isn't what I'm meant to do. Seeing where you started and where you are now is really encouraging to me. I hope one day I can reach a similar level.
ОтветитьTop advice!
ОтветитьDid you notice? Isn't it kinda sus, that he's mostly drawing half naked men? LoL. Good video tho, thanks it helped me a lot.
Ответитьlmao! "Take this chunky baby, that's my daughter".
ОтветитьThank you... This video ignited something in me. I haven't picked up my sketch pad in probably over 10 years. I'm ready now. I LOVED this video so much.
Ответитьtalent does not exist. Creative skills are just like any other skills, in that they require work to develop.
Ответитьamazing thanks
ОтветитьExcellent video, tyvm! I love the little tips like "VS." that one i'll be exploring more.
ОтветитьI'm just now getting back into art after a decade of dropping it after high school. Your video gave me hope that I can improve and polish my skills to create something worthy of sharing with others. Thank you.
Ответитьwooow one like this is my dream but wow ill never be able to get one
ОтветитьVery impressive improvement. Usually by 19 artist are far more developed. Quite impressive improvement to know, amazing
Ответитьyou can do any craft with ten thousand hour experience ( im talking about crafts , no brain surgery )
ОтветитьFrom someone just starting out: these are light source, contour lines and orientation?
Your vids are great by the way
12 years ago, applied to Sheridan's photo program. Portfolio flopped. Went on a solo mission for self-discovery. Found out my artsy pals weren't into it. Life's funny that way! 📸✨
ОтветитьCool video, very interesting.
ОтветитьTHANKS YOU GOODNESS 🌟 DAPHNE COTTON ALWAYS 💜 AWESOME
ОтветитьLove ❤ this video. Thnk u
ОтветитьI started off the same. No talent but a drive to draw. I never got into art school and so had to self teach everything. After 20+ years of pen, pencil, and photoshop drawing, I'm now at the stage where I have to learn flow better. My art is very precise but stiff. It's what is stifling my creativity. It feels like "flow" needs to be taught and is very hard to learn by yourself. I've started water colors, oils, gouache, acrylics, and alcohol markers to try and "loosen" my art up. It's going ok. I'm planning on experimenting for a few years before going back to my preferred medium of digital art with a wacom cintique (recent addition. Used wacom tablets before). I know I will see an improvement, i just dont know how much.
ОтветитьTalent is not simply there. It comes after being passionate and learn. Unfortunately, we made all this effort to get there, only to find us now surrounded by competitors who never made any effort and have no passion but in 5 minutes they have a work done with AI.
ОтветитьI'm glad I found your channel and this video. I'm just getting back into learning about drawing and this video helped me tremendously! Thanks Marco.
Ответитьjust loved this vid, I was an aspiring young artist in my twenties but opted out for money in tech. now I look longingly at guys like this wishing I had stayed with it.
ОтветитьThank you for making me feel better about myself.
ОтветитьGood info. To get rejected from art school and not become a genocidal maniac is indeed an achievement
ОтветитьI want to learn to draw and paint so so badly. None of my family members have any sort of talent. And I'm just discouraged by how much creativity I lack in my thoughts, brain, or vision
Ответитьeverything already seen millions times,
that's good craftsman yes, but certainly ain't no art
I start to think that I might start to draw some walking stuff .. and aimate even if itlooks crappy :) perhaps it is the way :)
Ответить6;33 why is that poor execution??
ОтветитьSelf taught artist here like how you described the art journey you took
ОтветитьDisney could also hire you for voice acting 😏
Ответитьso bro became a nartist good job
Ответить"I can make beautiful art and i have no talent🤪" that's you right now. Er... when you made this video at least.
ОтветитьHey dude, stop lying. I saw your art. The best lies are the truth with one or two facts removed or altered. In this case one, and it's in the fucking title of your video. Sure you didn't go to art school, but you obviously have talent. And yes I am jealous. Envious? No. Jealous? Yes.
ОтветитьI'll be honest, I just came back from watching your most recent video (which was my introduction to this channel as a whole) and hearing you describe your process overwhelmed me with just how much there is about art that I don't yet know as a "self-taught" artist. I never would have guessed that you were able to make it to the skill you have now without art school, and seeing this video immediately after helped me flip around from existential anxiety to optimism and encouragement, knowing that there are other ways I can continue to learn how to learn and practice effectively, especially with such specific examples of artists and their techniques! Thank you Marco! 🤩
ОтветитьI got into Sheridan’s animation program and chose a different path. Big regret
ОтветитьAre you talking about Sheridan College in ONtario?
Ответитьthis is such an interesting video as someone who is JUST GETTING into taking art seriously and learning wtf a gesture drawing is.
i absolutely adore the way you narrate your process
Amazing. Thank you so much.
Ответитьhmmm......wat if we dont have access to life drawing ,,,,,,,
ОтветитьThis is so inspiring!
ОтветитьThis is inspiring, not just for artists, but for anyone taking up a new skill. Bravo Marco.
ОтветитьInspiring
