The 135 GM is considered by many testers to be the sharpest lens they have ever tested ,.I own it and it is indeed magical,.. with a 60 MP sensor it’s quite incredible,..

I personally donc like to do portraits with long focals. It gives people a wider and flat face. I would not go over 85mm. I like 50mm the most as long as you don't get too close.

I was thinking that sigma 105 will be more outstanding. But now when i have 70-180 from tamron and zeiss Batis 85 im not sure if i need it 🤪

I've watched as many videos of the Sigma 105/1.4 ART as I can find (including your stand-alone YT review) and the elephant in the room has been the weight of this lens. Otherwise everyone who has reviewed it thinks that its a stellar lens. I guess no one should complain about its weight when they buy it - that part is well established. Hoping to own one someday!!

I will go for the Sony 135mm 1.8 GM ! I have it and can very highly recommended it. The Sigma 105 and 135 are too big and heavy. A very good alternative are the Samyang AF 135mm 1.8

If I use a Dof Calculator 200m 2.8 is equal to 135 1.8 so why does the 200mm not give the same pop.? Anyone can answer because I'm in the market for one. 85 1.4 I already have. 105 is too heavy

85mm is simply the best. I like too much also the 135 mm, but only for total body portrait.

Not gonna lie. I got a hard on watching this video & it wasn't from the model.

I shoot fashion and beauty and I'm by no means a super professional, big name photographer but I have been using a 24-70 and 70-200 for about 2 years now and I've started to move to primes. I use my 55mm 1.4 Zeiss for probably 70% of my compositions, my 24mm GM for those rare occasions where I need to compose wide and I just recently started looking at 85, 100 and 135 lenses to replace my 70-200 but I've quickly found out that since my main lens is a 55mm, the 85mm focal length doesn't really offer anything special compared to the 55mm and I'm not really getting that much closer with it either so for me it was a fight between either the 105mm Sigma or the 135mm GM!

I have just decided I will order the 135mm GM because I really don't like how Sigma makes things in the image look... It's hard to explain, it's like I would focus on the model but then everything around the model would be one dimensional and flat, like you couldn't tell how far stuff was from each other, like for example, if you had two cars one behind another, they would literally just look like you glued two car stickers on top of each other, whereas when I tried the 135mm GM, it would make everything look 3D, just like my 55mm Zeiss Otus does and I LOVE THAT kind of look because it reminds me of those old film and cinema lenses! Plus it looks more realistic because it's not just a flat image and for fashion and beauty shots that's SUUUPER useful and makes the model stand out from the environment even at f8, f11 or f16!

And the 135mm focal length is MUCH BETTER for head, head n shoulder, waist up, close up and detail beauty shots, since I use 55mm for basically everything else!

85 mm is the best!

you came in clutch 4 years ago. just in the market for a 105mm z macro or just go for the 70-200

I've switched to canon and kinda miss Sony when I see you use it. Was so easy to find lenses for the Sony vs the Canon. Using EF beacuse the rf is to expensive. Own sigma 35 art and 85 art and mostly shooting portraits. Love the sigma but they are heavy and now I'm thinking shall I go for a 70-200 or a 135 prime. I love them both but can't justify to own them both.

I shoot with the Sony 85mm 1.4 Gmaster and the Sigmas 105mm F1.4. The problem with the Sigma is the flare shooting with the sun behind the model. It is so bad. Anything backlit, I use the 85mm.

The difference was very very minimal. I guess it's more about room to work and compression of the scene than anything else. You can shoot very nice portraits with any of these, but if you don't have room the 135 and 200 become too big fast (at least for full body). But a 200 can compress the background heavily so you can take beautiful shots where there is only a strip of nature or field.

The 85GM is to noisy and sluggish. Got the 85mm Sigma ART and 135 Sigma and never looked back!

For me, and my taste, the 105 wins.

Having 85, 105, 135 and 200mm in one lens is just so good, having ability to change perspective, composition, compression etc by just using a zoom ring instead of changing lenses! But prime is prime and will be always better in terms of image quality.

oh man i love the 105 look. thats insane but i really need to rob a bank for that or need to eat bread for 5 years to collect the money xDxD

Yo Manny, I need your help. I bought the 70-200 Tamron G2 f2.8 and it's a great lens but for portraits I usually grab my 85mm 1.4 Art. However sometimes I need just a little bit more seperation to cut out clouds and other distractions. Would you pick the 105mm or 70-200?

That’s what I’m talking bout … great review… better comparison… thanks bro for putting it down…I’m liking that 135mm GM (not sigma) and 70-200mm GM… complement each other well… The 135mm has nice close macro like focus … I’d use the 135mm for close ups and 70-200mm for everything else… 85mm (Sony or sigma) for close range outdoor and studio portraits ….The 105mm sigma range is too close or near 85mm focal length .. stick with 85mm it’s way better …and buy 135mm … lol and keep the 70-200mm… lol
