DaVinci Resolve 15 and 16 video playback stinks on 2015 MacBook Pro

I upgraded to Resolve 15 recently from 14.2 and found that video playback, without any grading, transitions, or effects was painfully choppy. Upgrading to 16 and 16.1 doesn't improve the situation and adds random failures during rendering. Here I compare 14.2 to 14.3.1 to 16.1 on a mid 2015 MacBook pro with 2.2ghz i7 and Iris graphics and a vanilla 1080p30 clip from my GH5. There were higher end mid 2015 MBPs but I'm happy with this one of the last pre touchbar MBPs (with SD card slot, USB ports and no need for a bunch of dongles). I had no performance issues with 14.x. Where's the beef, black magic?

Very useful as I was considering a 2015 for use with Resolve... Not anymore... Unless 17 has a fix

If it's that bad with 1080p, then 4k basically won't play
