Rock On Man!!! Welcome to the club. I just got myself a 20 footer with a gutted cabin that I get to rebuild, and I am getting a lot of interior ideas from your boat.
ОтветитьGreat video entertaining and informative.
ОтветитьKeep the electric simple. Yes, a chest freezer and a car GPS. A CB radio, but no batteries wired in parallel. Avoid flexible solar panels. You'll want to tote more fresh water in multiple containers. I wouldn't bring milk on board unless kids drink it up in 24 hours. That is really nice.
ОтветитьReminds me of my Catalina 22. I have always sailed her clumsily single-handed, but I love every minute of it.
ОтветитьWhat a great video!! I live in Ohio USA.We have The Great Lakes and Michigan is my home state with over 10 thousand lakes I could really enjoy sailing!! I would never go into the ocean with Sharks everywhere!! Terrified of Sharks!!! STAY safe and God bless you and your family!!❤ Frank Ohio 🇺🇸
ОтветитьAwesome little boat!! I have never been sailing! But I want one!!! Ahoy!!❤
ОтветитьThis is so beautiful do enjoy
ОтветитьBest sailing video I have seen all year. Thank you.
ОтветитьI've never seen an raising roof in a sailboat other than a O'Day 23, which I love. Very nice boat, congrats
ОтветитьWhy don,t you hoist the mainsail? No wonder you make leeway! Warton Lancs UK
ОтветитьNice boat ⛵️
ОтветитьInizia con la randa su e il Genova dopo
ОтветитьYou need to cut your hair or get a captains hat.
ОтветитьFirst big mistake and sign of poor seamanship, the fenders.....
I won't be watching any more, too many amateur sailors out there....
you could stay with a dycon jib....the main thing is the Main, and Main Halyard ( see previous comment )
but when it's time to change out the jib, you could consider dyneema cruise laminate there also.
the Dyneema is more up front cost than Dacron, but it comes out the same, because the Dyneema Lasts longer................if the motor goes, you could retrofit to a Sculling Oar and hydrophobic bottom paint....pulling the motor will also make it lighter, and easier to scull......hydrophobic bottom paint won't make it lighter, but that will Also make it easier to scull.
smoothness of the finish helps a lot also;
so when you plan for hydrophobic bottom paint, spend more time on substrate prep, and have it sprayed on.
a 12 to 14 foot sculling oar costs so much less than a new motor.
if you plan on having to deal with heavy weather on occasion, new dyneema cruise laminate sails, and low stretch main halyard, could Save Your Mast !!!
Dacron sails Stretch too much; and Is Old Tied Dacron meets Heavy Weather to blame, every time an Aluminum Masted Fractional comes limping back into port with a bent mast.
with the Dyneema, it doesn't stretch, and your back-stay tension is Much Lower to get the same degree of de-powering....consider the new sails, and low stretch halyad, as Mast Insurance !!!
Now thats a cool boat.
ОтветитьThanks 4 your Videos, I love your ship. Cool how you are moving on the water, great .... keep it up! I´m a sailing musician, would be happy 4 your likes an Abos 2. You can find a Band on Tour by Boat Serie on my channel and lots of Music. I´ll be continuing this with my new Boat AVALON, a Commander 31* from Denmark. Your welcome, I´ll be watching you 2. Sail save, Fair winds, love <3 and Peace
ОтветитьNice little boat ⛵✅👍
ОтветитьBeautiful boat ! , hope by now you have got her down and are really enjoying her! I had a 10 ft sailboat back in the 80's but would have loved to have one like "Misty"
ОтветитьHave just tuned into your videos, thank you. I noticed your tiller lock and am wondering where you got it from? I think it would work well on the tiller bar on my catamaran.
ОтветитьCongratulations for this amazing boat !!!
Ответитьbrawo brawo brawo 🦈🦈🦈🦈🦈🦈🦈🦈🦈🦈🦈🦈🦈
ОтветитьThe folkboat has an awesome reputation, a fantastic small yacht.
ОтветитьFenders.
ОтветитьYa learning your on the right track mate dont get the bug and want a bigger boat trust me enjoy what ya got and make her perfect , happy safe sailing 👍
ОтветитьI have an old Puma 23 that is very similar to your boat
ОтветитьIn around 1977, I bought a new Catalina 22 that looked very much like your boat. I spent a summer sailing the Chesapeake. I never had the nerve for any blue water sailing. Our boat was only powered by an outdoor motor hanging off of the transom. I sure would like to have had a furling jib. The Catalina had a pop top too, but it was manual.
ОтветитьNot a bad sailer for a convict
ОтветитьVery nice and fasinating boats
ОтветитьSo happy for you and your family! Happy sailing!
ОтветитьGood on you for giving it a go!! Ask questions, be willing to learn and you'll have an awesome time!! Best wishes!!
ОтветитьCongrats, my late wife and I spent just about every weekend on the boat. It's definitely a lot of fun 👍👍👍
ОтветитьWhy boating alone without life jacket?
ОтветитьCongrats. What boat is this, please?
Ответитьvery small wife and kids not a good thing in a magor storm
ОтветитьGreat enthusiastic video.
ОтветитьGreat enthusiastic video.
ОтветитьCongratulations! Very Impressive.
ОтветитьBeautiful Boat ! Great video, Jimmy Buffet would be proud, have fun, thanks
ОтветитьIf this is his first boat he made a good choice. The IF is one of the best ones. The outboard motor well is a weak point
I have seen the prop hit the rudder when the tiller is hard to stbd. I have the engine hung off of the transom.
Notes:
A. Learn how to tie the bow cleat. figure 8 etc.
B. Pull in the Fenders wherever you leave the dock.
C. You are by yourself - Always where the Life Jacket. No one to save you if the boat sails away.
D. You need an afternoon to practice several hours of coming into and out of the dock. (Over and over) so you are comfortable learning how far the boat coasts and turns. You will need time to learn by the feel of the boat and begin muscle memory.
The other 800 things you will learn as you go along LOL Best of Luck and have fun.
I too own an IF boat. Beautiful and sails great!
ОтветитьHow much did u pay?
Ответитьput in at least the bottom fid on your cabin entry. it's a saftey thing. solo, use a leashe.
ОтветитьStill waiting for a vid in this bro!
ОтветитьIf I could have any sailboat, I would pick IF. I just love them. I also love the story of how the IF came to be.
ОтветитьCan I ask how much this was?
ОтветитьIs the FolkBoat the brand of boat?
ОтветитьJoin a yacht club. Start racing and do group island trips where you tie your boats together on the sides with fenders. Lots of fun. How my dad learned to sail when he got his boat.
