If you want to try out other paid VSTs, my preferred one is by far Neural DSP's Parallax (not much into Dark Glass, personnally). GK is quite nice too but up to now nothing beats Parallax (GK have been my second favorite for now). UAD and Softube's Eden are not bad either. I'm not too much in to Ampeg sound but Brainworx's Ampeg are not bad when you are looking for that sound.

There was a LOT of talking and very little "Shooting out" going on here...

In Logic, some of the guitar amps sound really good on bass. The boutique and the AC15 come to mind.

I was tearing my hair out tonight trying to figure out how to do direct recording into my audio interface, and your video was super-helpful! GK Amplification to the rescue!

your room needs some sound treatment. Your mic audio isn't great.

Good video, but I felt like at the end, you were gonna say "I'm just kidding, I just showed you 4 Identical DI tracks"..

Bias amp is also a really good option for this comparison.
Nice video anyway!

I usually use the bass VST's for my low end only and run it into low pass fileter then into a Fet compressor. I split my bass into three channels Low Mid and High. I then use eq on each to effectively separate them into their respective tone real estate sections and then just mix them together till I have the perfect tone. IS this overkill? Maybe, but I've never had a better bass tone when it comes to fitting it perfectly into an entire mix.

What was the model used in the Amplitube demo? Ampeg SVX? What head and cab? BTW, the free "Custom Shop" version of Amplitube also comes with a solid state bass head sim and a 1x15 Ampeg-like cab. I bought the SVT-CL sim and 8x10 cab sim and while they are as close as you can get to the real thing in terms of interface and knobs, my main criticism with Amplitube is that it has a lot of variables which translate in many chances to get a muddy tone, IME. In terms of paid plugins, I get very present tones quickly with JTS Bassforge Rex Brown, very streamlined UI and useful IR loader built-in. Quite worthwhile if bought on sale, IMO - because they're often on sale. And It's great for cleans too. In terms of free VSTs, the Ignite amps are very solid, coupled with their free Nadir IR loader. For free bass IR, the Shift Line Bass IR Pack is amazing (donation-ware), and I'd rather load one of their carefully positioned mic mixes rather than fiddle with emulations. Dr Bonkers makes affordable very good IR packs too, and a mix of some of his IRs for free called In This Together, released after the Covid outbreak, which I know isn't quite contemporary to the video release.
