one question, i got an pretty old PC from 2015, got an 1080 which is running smoothly all the games i play and is not even close to 100% load. But the issue i got with my build is that my i5 6600k CPU is on 100% load on all of the games i play, which makes my games stutter sometimes and even some fps drops. Question is, is it worth to upgrade to i7 7700k to fix this issue? (thats the best cpu i could get for my mainboard btw)

I know this is old. But if I upgrade from a 6700 to a 7700. It will push my ram to a higher frequency as well. I'm wondering if it's worth picking up one ...

lmao if you look closely at some of the tests the 6600k was labeled as an "i7 6600k" and at other points in the video you'll notice that the 6700k and 6600k where also label "i7 6600k" and "i5 6700k"

Right now on hwbot over 18 samples of 7700k have hit 7 ghz with only 2 samples of the 6700k.

The max frequency on the 7700k is 7.38 ghz with the 6700k record at 7.05 ghz.

I came to see this video wondering if I should upgrade my 6600k to a 7600/7700k but now I think I'll just push my clocks higher, I'm already at 4.5 ghz and I know I can get 4.8 stable.

The difference between the 6th gen and 7th gen being a higher amount of mhz at the same amount of watts which in itself should be a positive thing but also turns out to achieve worse performance than the previous generation with a higher temperature.

Just why are they continuing doing this even if the results are going into a degradation rather than an improvement?

Thank you soooo much, I picked up on what you said about under volting your 7700k. I was getting 70+ degrees at stock clock speeds on games like bf1 and gta on my 7700k with a hyper 212 evo and I had no clue why. I under volted and now I get 60-65 degrees.

Here's a simple answer for the NON Gamer since we're always left out of these videos. If YOU care about 4K at all and want it on Netflix as an option with your PC. Then you MUST go KABY LAKE.. Skylake is not listed as supported. YOu will also need an Nvidia GTX 10X series board so recommends a 1060 or better. So if you are a media junkie like myself hold off on Skylake and stick with Kaby Lake.

I have an i5-6600k @ 4,5GhZ running and I'm thinking about to exchange it with an i7-7700k @ ~5GhZ, especially for Lightroom etc.
What do you think? Do not consider the money, just the time and efficency that is worth it.

My only regret buying the my 6600K is that it does't have the DRM support for 4K steaming of Netflix.... I'm using an H60 Cosair AIO and running 4.7 OC 1.3V with that tiny cooler and it runs equally good as the 7600K. Drives my 1080 TI perfectly. But..... no 4K Netflix :'-(
