you are so cute, you helped me relieve my nervousness
ОтветитьThanks so much for this, Mika. I have a tech recruiter phone screen later today, and this video is golden. Also, the dating app analogy at the start is so accurate — that's exactly what it's like!
ОтветитьGreat video. Useful tips. Even I you know most of them is a very effective refresher. Also, you are full of great insights. Thanks for sharing your experience!
ОтветитьThank you so much for sharing your experiences and tips. I feel that I can prepare better for my upcoming phone screen interview now. Appreciate you 😊
ОтветитьGood video.very interesting in helping with interview prep. I hate behavioural interviews, where they ask you what have you done in such a situation, give me an example of when... , these are very on the spot which you can always prepare for properly. Also, employers by law arent allowed to contact your references at interview stage or even upon application. Only if they are considering offering you the position.
ОтветитьThanks for the advice! I got one tomorrow afternoon and I'm nervous af. I think I'll make a script for sure or at minimum talking points!
ОтветитьThis was both good interview advice and good online dating advice at the same time! /gen
For most of my software engineering career, I had hopped companies so many times taking the first shitty-culture tech job I could get them hating it quickly till I burned out.
My dating life has been as potent in right-swipes as I was getting tech recruiter calls; there were a lot of potential matches that rarely got past the first contact.
My key take away is:
1 - learn how to write a good elevator pitch
2 - learn how to ask good questions in the phone screen
3 - learn how to make my resume and elevator pitch more congruent with what I am looking for I nthe next role.
Not too dissimilar for my online dating lol
you are a really good communicator, are you sure you're a SWE? O_o
ОтветитьThanks much Mika!
I got much helpful information!! :)
I thought the video playback speed was 1.25x when watching this.
ОтветитьMany thanks for sharing. I've got a ton of helpful information. 💪
ОтветитьFor software engineering I honestly don't care if the first job will suck I'll take anything as long as its coding, because after a few months of experience I will have leverage, and nothing sucks compared to most peoples standards in the entry level job hunt including me, but great video!
ОтветитьThis is so helpful. Thank you very much! love this video~!
ОтветитьI had to check the playback speed is normal because it sounds like it's 2X. But I guess you just speak fast.
ОтветитьDon't tell them your salary.
ОтветитьHow do you prepare for take home tests?
ОтветитьSaving grace needed. thanks
ОтветитьA hiring manager messaged me for a data analyst post today and I told her I was available 11am later today and boy. I felt like I gave myself a bottle neck with time lol
Ответитьwhat boolean strings did you use ?
