CAR CARE NUT!!!! We bought two 2018 new TNGA Camrys. They were an XLE from the Kentucky plant which we still have and a “J” serial number Camry SE made in Japan. The Japanese car ruined the right rear tire, inside tread wear, in 9000 miles and no help after three “alignments” at the dealer. The XLE has had three alignments and continues “eating” the right rear tire also. It’s on the third set in 60,000 miles. Being a retired and gentle driver this should not be. We don’t hit curbs, avoid pot holes and I am a retired mechanic/fully certified technician with 60 years experience. I watch and check my vehicle every day. It appears there is no rear toe adjustment. Can anything be done? Is it a known defect? Are the rear subframes improperly welded or fitted as some suggest? How is this even possible? We only have the one car now because of these problems. Worn out tires in 20,000 miles from 80,000 mile rated top tier and brand tires is not acceptable. After owning over 150 cars and trucks I’ve never seen anything like this. The dealer has been less than helpful in any way and now out of warranty I am the only one left that cares. I sold new Toyotas in 1969 and have always like their products but thanks to this and the dealer”attitude” it’s over for me and any Toyota. It’s just an ongoing pain it the butt at this point. Run Forest, Run!

Literally the dumbest thing ive seen in years. These chassis are a joint venture with multiple partners Ford's patents are literally identical while Mazdas patients are also identical and now Toyotas patients are also identical. Ford let it slip not too long ago when they said its a modular unibody construction. Meaning with specific cuts and welds they can create from the same stamping dies cars ranging from the fiesta all the way up to the bronco yes thats right the reason the mustang is rounded now is because they use the same stamped steel to create the unibody used in every other car in their global lign up other than F150 since their trucks are a body on frame chassis. Toyota mazda and Volvo are using the same modular design. Its a cost cutting measure to make cars cheaper while it gives Ford the chance to make money off of selling stamped parts to other automakers. Ford is doing it cheaper than they can for the time being and im sure Toyota and Volvo coughed up the money while mazda did the design. This is why the corolla cross and CX-30 are built in the same plant in Alabama somehow they supposedly use a different architecture and yet the parts are completely interchangeable. Mazda calls it SKYACTIV and Toyota calls it TNGA but strip it down and you could put all the same body panels from a Ford escape on it and it would fit some windows would need alignment and trimming but remarkably while the patents claim they are different, they are identical in architecture.

TNGA, like BMW CLAR for example, isn't one base platform, but rather a hardware and tech "option/equipment menu" as well as a new/updated formula and strategy for build logic. Based around this "matrix" would be the various specific platforms like the "K" under the new Crown and others that be further tailored to specific models and trims.

Apart from the cover you show towards the end, will the TNGA-F frame itself have better rust protection/rust performance than the current frame used in GX and similar trucks? (Concern with covers, salt spray and such can usually still find its way in and then it is difficult to rinse off).

A quality platform makes their cars in any price point feel substantial and not feel like a penalty budget box.

Hi Car Care Nut,

I'm from the EU, you mentioned in your video that the new Yaris is a Mazda 2. In the EU the new Mazda have a Toyota engine and chassis, not the opposite as it was before and also Toyota Corolla is similar to Suzuki's Swace.
It would be nice if you make a video about the rebranding, if a Suzuki Swace equals to a Toyota Corolla (differences), also WLTP is real ? What would you recommend ? A new Yaris (2022) or a 5 years old Prius (considering fuel consumption and maintenance costs ?) I'm just before a job change and need a relaible car, "never broke down, consume as little as it can be", 35 kms from the office, 10 kms in city, the rest is on highway. (now having a manual, petrol, BMW also burning clutch in the traffic jam), can't charge regularly.

The new Toyotas are designed to only hold up until 60000/5 years. At that point they want you back. So they work design features to wear out to force you to the dealer. Both my idler pulley on my Tacoma need to be replaced. I have never had to replace parts like that on my Honda. I will never own a newer Toyota.

I'm very impressed on how well my 2020 Camry LE drives and handles. I recently took a 435 mi. road trip which put my car thru every type of road situation. Also...with the Dynamic Force 4 cly. engine...an unbelievable 35.7 MPG! I couldn't believe it! I bought this car after my 2005 Camry LE...218,000 trouble free miles. I'm convinced of the outright quality you get with Toyota.

Question: why isn't there an acoustic blanket on some of the models, as opposed to other ones that do have them? is it some technical think that has to do with chassis difference? or it's just about some cost cutting??

With rust belt states switching to a liquid salt brine to kept the ice off of the roads, those covers will not stop the fine spray and mist from finding every nook and cranny to rust your car. Those covers will only get in the way from when applying undercoat.

Pardon me for asking Sir,
But do you have some sort of Patreon or subscriber page People
Can Support you that way you can be more readily available to answer their questions about their Toyotas if their a DIY warrior??

Just wondering because I have a 2018Toyota corolla SE and I absolutely love this car I have 56,000 miles on it and I’m just warning to do all the maintenance myself because I’ve had some very bad experiences with the two Toyota dealerships here lying about what they’ve said they’ve done as far as service with the help of a hidden camera LOL.

In 60,000 miles I will be changing my transmission fluid with Toyota CVT fluid only And only now by watching your videos do I feel comfortable enough to do it myself

Long story short it would be nice to have an on call mechanic technician give me advice when I absolutely need it and it would be worth paying for it to me
