I love how the video director didn't shy away from showing some truly uncomfortable moments such as when Jordi gives the timpani player a completely wrong entrance in the 2nd movement and the dissatisfied reaction of the first bassoonist after he totally butchers the first entrance in the 3rd movement. All of these imperfections make the overall experience so special! I think I can speak for many people when I say that we're all sick and tired of "perfect" orchestras. Music is life itself. And life is anything but perfect.

Nothing compares to the serene and tranquil feeling when immersed in these gentle melodies. The music helps me unwind and regain my spirits.

Jordi Savall is an absolute legend. I've seen him live in Seattle many times with his small ensembles.

This performance is stunning. Adding to the effect is hearing this on a new set of wired headphones that allowed me to hear sections of the orchestra I usually only hear in the concert hall. Wonderful!

Tempo is a bit fast for my taste, but the choral section is by far one of the cleanest sounding interpretations I've heard for this piece. I don't think I've ever heard it this clear before, could likely be the lower number of vocalists than this piece usually demands

The contrabassoon is utilized much more in this version. I hope this becomes standard. I'd like to hear this combined with the Mahler horn revision

Maravilloso Jordi

Small orchestra and modest conductor compared to Karajan or Furtwangler than can conduct complex Late Romantic works by memory.

Thanks to A Clockwork Orange, l found my favorite all-time symphony. Always loved Beethoven. Especially the 7th and 9th.

Jordi has an impressive musical sense. His performances are always stunning. He is perfectly capable to become audible some reaggeton plays. Obviously it's mandatory enjoying this performance!!!❤❤❤

The musicians used oboe d’amore (invented in 1717) and Muller clarinet (invented in 1812) instead of modern instruments.

They use 432hz tune, not the common 440-445hz we’re used to listen to. That’s because 432hz was reconized as the most natural and harmonic tune, both Beethoven and Mozart preferred composing in lower tune.

The horns they used are not French horns, these are a kind of instrument called inventionshorn.
Inventionshorn was the work of Charles Clagget, 1788.

Wow! That was marvelous. By the faces of the muscicians, they were certainly having a good time, and it showed. What was that one instrument, a bass bassoon? First time I could hear one so clearly. The sound techs. really had the microphones dialed in!.

I listened to this track many times while studying or working on schoolwork. It was amazing and I loved it. Now, I listen to it occasionally and it's still epic and amazing, despite the number of times I've listened to the entire track. Definitely recommend as study music.
