This was my high school dream car back in the early 80s. I still have a Revell model in this color scheme that I put together in high school. As a widowed teacher and father, this car will never make it up my driveway, but I still love it.
ОтветитьJay, I’m sorry. I’m running away. These continuation cars are very fine automobiles, perhaps even better in some respects than the originals. They are not Shelbys. Agreed, I think it’s great that Venice is out there doing their thing and making these cars available to those who can afford them. Just because they worked for Carroll and helped build the original cars does not mean Venice’s cars have the same provenance. They do not.
ОтветитьJay is one lucky son of a gun for being able to drive, well, basically every single dream car that has ever existed. Plus the custom ones! What is awesome, is that we get to see it!
ОтветитьSorry to tell you Dave. A tape player isn't modern anymore. Hadn't been for about 25 years. AKA a quarter of a century
ОтветитьMost American vid I've ever wathed! 🦅🦅🦅🦅
ОтветитьI'm so impressed
Ответитьgod said these people arent my family they know that 2
ОтветитьI live and breathe GM but this was a simply amazing and beautiful car.
ОтветитьAbsolutely stunning car
ОтветитьJust working in a car shop
ОтветитьVenice 13 LADS forget these old goats
ОтветитьJust go buy a new one. Keep the economy going. Tesla smoke that junk
ОтветитьSorry. Too many numbers.
ОтветитьDoesn't get much better. That car has heart and soul, and lots of it.
ОтветитьShelby was a genious....funny how it's always southerners that made Detroits cars better than anyone else could.
ОтветитьJay is so right when looking in an engine bay from the ‘60s saying it looked complicated at the time; they do look so simple and obvious now. Today, when looking in my engine bay, when I take off the plastic cover I can barely recognise the engine parts.
I used to do all my own work on my cars, but now I leave it to the technicians with computers to analyse my car and service it.
Great to hear from the original fabricators
ОтветитьNice
ОтветитьI love his passion for the classic cars what a Class Act
ОтветитьYeah maybe modern 4 cylinders make the same power, but they are all boosted that's kinda cheating. It's not n/a. Besides 4 cylinders still lack torque
ОтветитьI was twelve and my best friend's dad bought one as soon as they were available in 65. Every morning his dad drove it to work and I figure that I know that car better than you because I rode in it on rainy days to school and when his dad drove it on car rallys. He did Riverside Raceway later on after he and his wife broke it in. I can remember sitting in the back (funky little seat) and watching people turn their heads at red lights when they heard the idle of that 307 hp 289. That thing would jump into the intersection and throw you back into the seat. His mom was heavy on the clutch. Lol
The only car that competes with it is a 69 Camaro RS Z28 Crossram 302 with a RL8 rear end. It's a toss up between the two. No other car even comes close.
That one is more true to the original. Some play around with the exhaust and they don't sound the way I remember them. Carrol Shelby was big on the way the original sounded.
ОтветитьYeah Shelby and his crew did miracle in building there won't be anyone else to do the same thing and there won't be an epoch like the 60's it simply won't be done for a long time
ОтветитьThat car sound's GREAT! 🔥🔥🔥
ОтветитьTerrific. Ride on.
ОтветитьWeigh it! I'd bet the house that it doesn't weigh under 2700 lbs. I had a 65 2+2 and the title - 2880 lbs. ¿`_
ОтветитьListening to this exhaust just gives me shivers. This my second favorite car right next to my 67 GTO convertible
ОтветитьThere is hardly any American car from the 60's that looks better than the 1965 Ford Mustang. No wonder they sold a million of these in one year. I have several in my Hot Wheels / Matchbox collection. I like the 66 Mustang fastback the best, because I like the inset fog lights in the grille. I owned and drove a 1970 Ford Maverick that my parents gave to me. When a 1970 Maverick is painted nicely with nice wheels and all, they are also a very good looking car. Long hood, short deck and (trivia) the Maverick sold more numbers in their first 6 months than the Mustang. B-CarFan-Gardner
ОтветитьAmazing 🤩
ОтветитьMy first car was a "66 hardtop, 200 cube six with a 3 speed stick, bench seat buckets, 6.95-14 tires. Dad said this was all the HP I needed at the time. It had 40k on it, previously owned by a NURSE......Ok, I guess it fit the profile of a gal's car......LOL............ I drilled out the main carb jet, put F78-14's on, rear height spring shackles.... It was a metallic medium blue.....Had I known where the Mustang would be today.............sigh.
ОтветитьWoW outStanding ❤
ОтветитьMy god what a beautiful car
ОтветитьHope and pray for your recovery Mr. Leno. Get well sooner. Love your cars and show!
ОтветитьTrue gentlemen with a true classic. Great episode !
ОтветитьI have tears down my cheeks. I remember the launch of the GT 350, and it still sends shivers down my spine !
ОтветитьTruly legendary car, and the life stories from these gentlemen puts a smile on my face.
ОтветитьMy 2009 Acura TL has 288HP. Love that they had this 350 putting out more than that in the 60's. hahahaha! Love it. Incredibly pure, honest engine. No tricks, no bs.
ОтветитьThank you for a great presentation, Jay...
I've wanted one of these since 1975. It's 2022 and I still want one of these things. Real Cool! - Should I seek professional help?
Nothing compares to the stroker motors based upon the Ford V8 small block. More bang for the buck and they spin up ferociously.
Ответитьmy other halfs grandpa ROLAND VAN DRUFF (think i speleed that right) was spoosedly according the the story, the FIRST ONE OF THE ''REAL'' ones... INTO SAN DIEGO back when they were ''new''..... he was into that solom and stuff so the story goes....
my blood runs FORD BLU :) eh... HAVE A GREAT DAY!!!
nice car!
Independent suspension that never got to be is reborn here, that’s pretty freaking cool.
ОтветитьPinch yourself Jay. The major respect you hold for these two fellas is obvious. As always, a fun ride.
ОтветитьThey could get a lot more acceleration by going on diets
ОтветитьNice car
Ответитьsomebody please tell jay to blipe on the downshift not on the upshift
ОтветитьFantastic clip - thanks to Jay. What a masterpiece of a Car and one of the best ever. What fantastic pedigree and authenticity to have the original builders re-build these cars. I "tip my hat" to you gentlemen, what an incredible legacy you are creating.
ОтветитьI absolutely Positively Enjoy watching this reminds of a more than SNAPIE 66 FASTBACK WITH SUCH REPONDS CARROLL SHILBY IS THE BEST EVER SINCE CHRIST WAS A PUP TO PUT THIS TALENT ON FOUR WHEELS AND HOLD IT THAT NO OTHER COULD THANK YOU CARROLL SHILBY ❣️
Ответить“I know there are faster cars, and there are better handling cars. But this just gives you such a connection, such a feeling.” That’s the secret sauce that is sadly missing in modern cars.
Ответить289 block? what? You mean non-roller? no way. It's a roller 5.0 block, right? Tell us more about that aluminum 4-speed?! 5-speed Tremec or better, rigjt?
Ответить
