Easy way to check for hot water leak is to turn off supply to water heater for a few minutes with no faucets running. Turn supply back on and if you hear a "slurping sound" of water coming into the tank then you have a leak.

Hi the weather here has been raining a few days and yesterday I saw water on my vinyl about 8 inches from the window and shower, sink. Weird place and only onto the viynl no leaks in ceiling or wall. My water in the sink pipe has been leaking for sometime however I have a bucket to catch it. This is a doublewide mobile home on a crawl space. I keep drying it up with a towel it re appears same spot. I looked under house didn't hear anything running. The only thing I did different this summer as the bathroom was so hot all the time and humid was use spray foam around my door as the trim is all gone and there is a gap between the wall board and where the trim should be hot air would come thru making that bathroom unbearable! So no more heat in there using the spray foam but I'm wondering if now cooler weather I should remove that foam. Never had this happen before either issue
1 bathroom being super hot
2. Water pooling a little in the middle of the floor.
Could the spray foam be the cause? Should I remove it? Just weird.
If I remove spray foam will my bathroom go back to being hot? Thanks!

Ugh this is going to cost a shit ton I'm sure. I dont have water anywhere outside but in 1 bed room under carpet across the hall from the bathroom theres a wet spot that started a few days ago. It's cold water and that's the only spot it's at. Idk I hope it's not something that's going to cost a lot of money to get taken care of but if it's a slab leak then it will be very expensive.

Hello Matthew, I have some questions. So my neighbor's house is leaking from the floor, and the speculation was if we use our washing machine and sink in the kitchen on our end, it caused some leaking on their part. It's weird because the leaking is coming from their floor. We also have no issue of leaking. The leaking is near their boiler room. We share a common wall but we can't even hear what they are saying, so I assume it's a thick wall, thus isn't caused by us right?

I live in Texas. So our water bill is always in 70-80 dollars a month. But we noticed moist surface on one particular tile which has a crack on it.. few days later I noticed a leak behind my toilet and I fixed it.. the toilet is located a few feet from this tile. I still feel that moist and when I step on another tile I can see water bubbles from home on the grout. Do you think it could be from a bad wax ring ?

Can someone answer a question for me?  I live in a condo complex, and I hear water running which sounds like it's from another adjoining Unit - I suspect it's a slab leak because all of a sudden my Bathroom floor feels oddly Warm, and when I turn on my Shower, the water is hot right away, as opposed to usually it takes a short while for the water to get  warm/hot - now, if the Problem is within the infrastructure of the building that I live in, is it MY responsibility or is the Association's responsibility - and yes, the complex that I reside in has had a history of plumbing problems ~

Great tips. I'm glad to see you are local to me. I have water showing up outside near the kitchen sink and also near the sink on the floor inside. This only happens when I try to drain the sink. The water will run and then eventually back-up on both sides. There doesn't seem to be an actual clog since nothing came up with a snake. My water bill is the same. So does this sound like a drain pipe that's busted? Is that also considered a "slab leak"? To fix this do you need to cut into the slab? Also, do you do camera inspections first to see where the actual leak is? The pipes are old so it could be corroded.

I have a slab leak. Unfortunately, I do not know whether it is coming from the domestic hot water line, or the radiant heat. I had a plumber place a one way valve so that I can use the hot water when necessary. Is it possible to test the system, to see the source?

...also, listen to your drain in the kitchen sink, I heard the vibration in my sewer which led me to all the other clues. Hot area under kitchen tiles, water meter spinning with all taps turned off, and eventually, the biggest water and electricity bill imaginable. A brilliant plumber isolated the pipe run and avoided the need to excavate the slab under a new kitchen. Installed rerouted incoming hot water pipes. Regards from Sydney, Australia.

Is it normal for hall tyle to be luke warm (not hot) after taking a nice, hot bath after a hardday's work, if hot water line runs just under tyle floor?  If it is not, then there might be a small leak possibility.  However, there are no signs of wetness on tyle surface, drips, tyles disconnecting because of water exposure or any other type of water damage. If it is normal, then hot wire line was placed close to slab's surface, which would be easier for heat to radiate or come up upwardly toward behind or under hall tyles.  ????

We have a section of the house flooring (concrete slab, no basement) that gets wet (cold water) only after a heavy rain. There's no roof leaks, it's like the rainwater seeping up through the foundation itself. Exterior does not appear to have any visible cracks and water meter doesn't show activity when not using water. What's up?

I have heat coming up through my concrete slab in one specific location. There are no water pipes running through my slab. All my water lines run through the walls. There doesn't seem to be any logical reason for this one area to be hot. Baffling!
