As a man who has grown up on the coast of North Carolina and South Carolina, I normally get offended when they say “Carolina”, because it’s distinctly different (with exceptions, the Eastern part of NC are still southerners). However, this is a beautiful, semi-haunting song in the thread of Patsy Cline and Alison Krause, beautiful and dangerous. Exactly like the nature of the two beautiful states and the chaos that they have gone through in the past, future, and present. “It’s between me, sand and the sea”, I love it.
