I sure am glad they made all the infusions useful in Elden ring and made “luck” now arcane a far more enticing and interesting way to do a build

How cool I thought it was to pick up a dark gem in the first area the game some where around High Wall of Lothric only to find out that you won't get the The Smiths coal till the end of the game, what a tease.

Why does the refined gem decrease my dexterity for my uchigata but increase strength

Me: Watches videos and reads up on the wiki to make sure I understand the mechanics of various systems and what options are viable.

Also me: Uses a blessed whip as my primary weapon, most recently in my faith based build for which I started as a thief.

Also also me: has six characters (excluding deleted ones) and stil haven't bothered snuffing the flames i Farron woods to progress.

Can you still upgrade your weapon after its infused?

If i start heavy gem on axe OR greatsword that will make attack slow?

This is confusing and pointless I’ll just stick to refining all of my weapons and upgrading them to the max to get multiple amounts of physical damage. Don’t know why they made the infusion area this weird they should have taken notes from Skyrim or oblivion weapon infusions they were so much more simple

I want to use weapons that can be effective with any infusion I know of the Astora great sword but o want to know what others work

Honestly I love dark souls 3 but this infusion shit got me absolutely mind spunked

I’m a socerie what gems should I use

tl;dr

Go Heavy for Str builds (unless something does more damage Refined like the Corvian Great Knife)

Sharp for Dex builds (again unless Refined does more)

Refined for Quality builds (unless Sharp/Heavy does more)

Raw for minimal stats/low level

Hollow for Luck builds (on weapons with no/low bleed/poison when infused)

Poison/Bleed for Luck builds (on weapons with high poison/bleed when infused) <- never use it in PvE tho

Fire/Deep for low level (although you'd be better off Raw) or for Dagger ripostes

Chaos/Dark for Int/Fth builds

Lightning on Fth builds (unless Blessed gets comparable enough damage)

Blessed on Fth builds' offhand items (and again if it gets comparable damage with Lightning infusion) + weapons that already have lightning i.e the Lothric Knight UGS

Crystal for Int builds (unless Simple gets comparable damage)

Simple on Int builds' offhand items (and again if it gets comparable enough damage to Crystal)

Shriving Stone for un-doing the infusion

For all of these you need different types of Coals and Gems

The hollow infusion is fucking amazing, you can get mag damage whit any given weapon when you have 35 luck, 35 str and 35 dex, by far one of the best infusions

I am a complete noob to this series... I just started ds3 and I am at the cathedral with no clue about any of this... kinda just winging it. Should I be just reinforcing my weapon or should i infuse it... I get a little pit off when I see myself losing base damge but after this video I understand now the other benefits but still I am a little on the fence. Great vid!

Wow, infusions seem kind of pointless or actively detrimental to the weapon except for very specific, well planned builds

Well I still don't see much benefit unless a build is set up a specific way m thr weapons set to DeX and they're a faith character then it makes sense or something like that. But other than that usually as a knight unless there's a specific weapon I need tio use for a certain boss I domt get it. (I wish there was no weight limit and that I could equip 3 weapons and items as much as I wanted n balance it that way. Cuz man I feel like I need my farron great sword for certain enemies and my snow ice sword I forget thr name of I think itd a boss weapon maybe idk im a noob. With only 110hrs

I don't get it makes no sense it's like improve 1 stat by only a couple or few points or so give or take at the cost of everything else being dropped by 1-2 points and or it'll make it another class c from d in another one at the cost of making everything else again drop in every case I find 99%of the time maybe 1 item will get better stats in every way but it's something I don't use so I haven't been wasting my souls and coals until I at least know wtf the point is cuz looking at the stats I can't tell it only seems tio cost mats to make my weapons worse wth would I want that?

Can you still infuse if the weapon already has a slab in it?

if I level up a weapon to +10 default and then make it sharp does that make a difference form making it sharp at level +0 ?
