fuck i love the redemption arc capcom went on after re6 and the perceived tone of their games. re7 and re8 were fantastic newer entries and the remakes for the most part are beautifully done.

First game that actually made me cry when Luis died

for some reason keyboard controls are delayed in this game, you can tell in the mission where you and ashley have to press the buttons at the same time, you have press left click and f at the same time, but for some reason the f would always be a second behind, i had to get used to it, i think its to mimic the feel of the old game

I was the same way with the first resident evil 4 game I couldn't beat it I only just beat like 5 months ago one the Xbox one. I remember I couldn't even get past the village part of it and just gave up

Never been into Resident evil at all in my life and probably won't have any intentions on getting into this franchise but i respect the praise it gets and the remakes they've been doing I'll admit almost makes me wanna get into the whole franchise but idk if i wanna go from 1 all the way to 8. Maybe if they remake 1 I might start there but we'll see! I respect this game for being a potential goty nominee against my personal favourite in tears of the kingdom and wish it luck!

My only complaints is that while the characters are better, their performances generally aren't, especially not for Krauser, Ada, and Luis. Ashley is easily the best improvement along with Leon to an extent, but everyone else falls flat. Krauser's VA tries to push the bad guy voice out too much and it's just meh, not naturally rough and gritty like OG Krauser. Ada is just bland, nothing else is really wrong besides that. Luis however did get the best story improvements, but I far prefer OG Luis's VA; back then he was more of the smooth talking Spaniard reasearcher used by Saddler and the cult, but in this he's just a 2-tone jokester. He's either cracking wise or delivering a monolouge, and most times his voice is too cartoony. He simply doesnt have the same charisma and charm of OG Luis, only a new fully developed story. Going back to Leon, I like the added bonding between him and Ashley but the voice sometimes tries too hard or just barely misses the mark, but to that extent, OG Leon was very one-note with his performance. Sometimes he'd raise his voice or be dramatic (like Luis's death) but other than that its the same monotone serious voice. In remake theres some range, he can be kind and show empathy or he can show concern, and of course majority of the time be the hardass hero. I will say that while I enjoy the campiness and cheese of some lines, I wish he had more serious and concerned lines when encountering new enemies. The only decent ones are when he first sees a Regenerador and when he parries the chainsaw, showing genuine fear that he was almost cut in half. Other than that it feels like he reacts to new enemies like when sitcom adds a new surprise character; jokingly and not all that affected by it. I get hes gone through some hard shit in Raccoon City, but pretty well everything that happens in RE4 is 5x worse than RC.

The original was my favorite game of all time, and this remake is everything I ever wanted in the game. There are some minor things missing that could definitely be added later (like a couple enemies missing from the original added in the ada missions.). No lie when I beat the remake I cried. For me, they definitely did it justice.

the puzzles are alright honestly, they break up the action and still keep it fun

If we're talking build mine was usually pistol and Knife. Granted I did use some weapons that necessary for bosses and certain creatures but mostly pistol and knife

I will never understand how we can, one day, go from "stop making remakes, just recycling old games. Come up with new and unique stuff for us gamers to play" to "omg wow, RE4 remake is incredible, game of the year for sure" like.. am I missing something here? Basically if the remake is good, everyone is all for more but if it's bad, everyone wants remakes to stop being made in general. The hypocrisy is astonishing.

There was one boss fight and a few spots that yes you don't notice unless ur a die hard re4 fan though ada's intro was lame I wanted the cool flip kick

I'm both excited and worried to see RE5 remake because it wasn't as fantastic as the other 4 games. Same with 6. I kinda hope they really change the game and not just do a very faithful remake.

The only thing I'll say to this games detriment is that enemies sometimes have bullshit aim where they won't even be facing you and will still shoot you or hit you out of nowhere without warning.

And my Partner haaaated Ashley. She felt that Ash didn't actually feel like a real woman and instead just felt like fan service who was giving Leon "fuck me eyes" the entire game rather than worrying about what's happening.

Also Ada was horribly voice acted and the voice actress can actually go suck a lemon after claiming "I did nothing wrong gamers are just racist cos I'm Asian"

Theres a ton of changes to how the scenes play out and the arrangement of the scene, and the lines are different. But in the end, it all leads to the same place, the same events, and the same points get made with dialogue. Its refreshing for someone like me who literally had the original memorized with a few dozen full playthroughs on both the Gamecube and Wii versions, then again a few times on PC. A classic made even better

Gotta disagree that’s it’s less goofy. Some of the shit Leon says here kills me and totally breaks the tension. When you fall down the pit and Leon hits ya with “talk about stickin the landing” I had to go take a break from the goof
