Bruh... What?? Barely lose performance? Whatcha mean?
20-30 fps lost isn't "barely" it's a lot.
If you have the latest card and are playing 480p, yeah, sure, -20 frames from 500 isn't much, but -20 frames from 60 is a lot.

if you were to record in 1440 and play in 1440 wouldnt you get better Frames since your encoder doesnt have to upscale ?

My 2 cents: on a 9700K, 32 Gb of RAM and a 3070; recording with bandicam using intel quick sync h264 60fps 80 quality
I get slightly worst results (around 2%) using NVENC h264 at the same settings although the files are a bit smaller too. I'm not sure why there is not a significant difference between recording with intel's quick sync and nvidia nvenc; theoretically it should be better as I'm recording with the CPU's GPU and that should leave the dedicated graphics card (3070) work on the game only.
Game FPS FPS (Recording) Performance lost % Graphics Settings
Shadow of the Tomb R 98 88 10.20% 3440x1440, highest
Cyberpunk 52.9 49.3 6.81% 3440x1440, ultra
Cyberpunk 86.56 77.87 10.04% 3440x1440, high, DLSS quality
Far Cry 6 89 77 13.48% 3440x1440, ultra
Horizon Zero Dawn 91 76 16.48% 3440x1440, ultimate
Assassins Creed Odys 71 65 8.45% 3440x1440, ultra

this is odd, i was just checking task manager and noticed with no games running my GPU was idling at 40% useage,
and it turns out shadowplay was the culprit, so to see such a minor performance impact is interesting
when its hogging 40% of the GPU even while my PC is idling.

My specs are
-AMD Ryzen 7 5700
-16 gb memory
-NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 will it be good enough to use to record every gameplay even warzone?

Maybe this test should have been done with more reasonable specs, with a high end system like this of course you wont notice anything

I’m sure benchmarking with a cpu that has a lower core count would show bigger differences

Just the video I was looking for. I play BF2042 and with shadow play on I lose around 10 fps. With OBS NDI I lose around 20fps. I'm looking at getting a capture card (dual PC setup)and I am hoping there will be no frames lost. Great video!

Can u do a test of fps loss if any like if we use the integrated GPU hardware encoder quick sync for Intel & VCE for AMD for recording while using the AMD/Nvidia GPU just for gaming. CPU will get hotter looks like it😂 pls do it I'm eagerly waiting for the results thanks

When the desktop recording is enabled it spikes to 14.5% GPU usage on my 3080. Is that normal?

The thing that bothers me so much is the bug that has instant replay record your other monitor. It pisses me off

pretty useful video. As I expected shadowplay is the best option unless you can afford a super high end dual PC setup.

Ahhhh the age old Battle...

Do people prefer Nvenc or X264. And at what bitrate, does the user prefer.
