This is where I’m trying to figure out what the best way for my body type to loose? It’s been mentally overwhelming. My metabolism is shot and feel like the only way I’m going to loose is by doing omad.

Me being an ectomorph (with an insane fast metabilsm) knowing I need to eat around 1600 caleries a day to gain just a bit of weight 😢. I've been at in the 90s to 100 pounds since I was a teen and I'm in my late 30s now

Many people I see who do IF long term look awful..they look run down and stressed out. I found that IF decreased my metabolism and made me an absolute jerk to be around. I lost muscle and gained belly fat. It made me skinny fat which I hated. I broke out and was always hot and sweaty. To test it I ate the exact same foods during IF 16 8 and not doing IF for a month each.. The differences were obvious. All the negatives went away when eating on a normal schedule. However i will say we are all different so I'm sure IF works for some. Definitely not for me.

Not a real doctor. Pseudo science explanation. Listen to Doctor Fung MD (real doc) to understand how reducing insulin via fasting allows you to burn fat and not decrease metabolism

Dr. Fung has said that when you lower your insulin through fasting you get the extra calories or energy you need from the stored fat. Hence not actually lowering your metabolism.

Why didn’t he touch on the fact that when you’re fasting you’re also using stored fat as caloric energy. If your body requires 3k cal per day and you’re eating 2000 then you will metabolize 1000 from fat. This is why when you’re fasting a person has more energy, not less. When in a fast you’re technically not in a caloric deficit.

I have a couple questions, please. I did OMAD in 2019 and lost 17 pounds. I'm a small person, 5'2". Over the pandemic, I kind of fell off the wagon and gained it all back. I started back on OMAD again last year (2021) in June and have continued it. I keep going between 3-4 pounds up and down. I'm not losing any weight and I need to! :( My caloric intake is probably 1000 calories a day? (as you discussed in this video) I'm thinking I have changed my caloric need and, thus, lowered my metabolism. I need to lose some weight. What do I do to change this without gaining weight? Thank you! :)

Gotta love how Thomas uses this 800 calories to 1,000 calories marker to signify everyday fasting wrecks your metabolism. All the other fasting authorities say to never go below 1,500-1,600

So is the lowering of metabolism a function of fasting or simply a caloric deficit? It seems they're implying that those who fast also tend to undergo calorie deficits as well, but what about people like myself who enjoy fasting but aren't lowering overall calories? Can fasting harm the metabolism if you keep calories unchanged?

Good to hear a nuanced viewpoint. I have done well on TRE and LCHF, but I clearly need to make some adjustments. My body IS telling me my metabolism has slowed down, based on detailed tracking of certain exercise metrics.

I have lost 20 pounds in the last month by doing 20:4 IF or OMAD, combined with keto. My weight loss has slowed and I'm guessing my body has adapted. What would be an ideal weekly schedule to keep to weight loss going. What was your eating schedule for a week? I also will be incorporating the 48 hr water fast 1 or 2 times a month.

Fastening did not work for me at all!!
Eating every 3 hours, and eating low carbs works the best for me. I start loosing weight faster.

I Recently have completed a 40 day fast (for religious reasons), but now it seems like my metabolism is almost non existent, plus my stomach is permanently bloated like when you approach your female cycle...

What is your strategy: Use steroids:, winstrol, decadurabolin, diabnol, terstorone and HGH cocktail and then pursue whatever bs diet you want, because your body is protected from muscle loss. Average idiot watching your videos, oh wow I can be like that guy by doing this BS diet.

Intermitten fasting will cause muscle loss faster that other diets because fat people hold on to fat MORE than lean body mass. Nothing you can do will change their genetic code, unless you introduce steroids and hormones that force their body to protect lean mass and burn fat.

If you are doing FASTS without knowing food and giving your body enough NUTRIENTS when you do eat than ANY fast you do is TOO MUCH FOR YOU!

If you give your body high quality food rich with nutrients, FASTING is not equal to STARVATION or BULIMIA, because you are NOT HUNGRY, and slow metabolism only means any toxins or disease WILL NOT AFFECT you as much.

Losing weight is easy, because your body is adapted to fat and burns it off FIRST.

Anyways, what benefits does "fast metabolism" bring? Except being a popular saying of SUGAR-junkies to explain their way to weight loss by eating 10 meals a day.

My dad who constantly eats breakfast (can't find a day that he didn't eat), is 63 old. He's still slim (like 0% fat), skinny (99.3 pounds -163m), and has abs muscle as well but not too much, his overall health is great except for his lungs (he smokes a lot). We're Asian so we do eat carb (rice, bread) like every day, his favorite and obligatory breakfast is "Pho" which is the popular specialty in VietNam and mainly contained bone broth.

They're still confusing the issue of fasting vs caloric intake.
Just because you're fasting, doesn't mean you're in caloric restriction.

I was under the impression that intermittent fasting was not meant to reduce calories but instead is to increase the amount of time between meals. In other words, maybe you still eat 2200 calories (give or take) in a day but you stretch those calories out between 2 meals or even 1.

if you have every day 2000 calories and you fast every day i dont see the reason to reduce the metabolism.Every single diet that reduces the consumption in long time can affect the metabolism.This is why we dont need to cut down a lot of callories..500 calories should be fine.

I have been doing IF for a year now and sometimes OMAD, I started loosing weight but now gaining it back, I am feeling more tired, could it be due to slow metabolism by my body? I also do cycling but still gaining the weight. (Some days I do cheat and eat some sweets here and there but even like that I was loosing weight)

I don’t get this. If you fast and you are on a ketogenic diet then your body burns body fat. How would the metabolism slow with all the availability of energy from the body itself. 🤷‍♂️
