Sorry about the sudden re-upload of this one. Someone in the comments kindly pointed out a critical error I made regarding the "Sunken City" shown at the end of the E3 2019 build and I felt it was important to revise the video to address this. Thank you for your patience, and stay tuned for more content coming soon, including the "History of Halo" that is currently in production :)
ОтветитьWow it looks so much better in e3. First game looked and felt more freaky esp at night. Plus I dont get the trees on roof thing, trees have roots and the big trees have huge roots. So in the game are all the trees small and planted in pots or something. Trees are not going to just start naturally growing on rooftop and balcony’s.
ОтветитьI think all the colors are much better and make much more sense. They bring a view of what comes when things are taken care of, what it looks like when nature just takes over. As for Old Villedor? I don't understand why they made it so easy to traverse, no one asked for an easy game! I want clusters of buildings and a set of grounds to activate my parkour mind, it's okay to make the player think. I do love the game though, the parkour is awesome and they're making Dying Light 2 better, just like they had to do with Dying Light 1. If you look back, Dying Light 1 was also not well received in the beginning till they kept updating the game.
ОтветитьAfter discussing it with other content creators and players my own conclusion of how and why we got retail instead of E3;
1. E3 was a tech demo. it wasn't really intended for retail it was more a way for them to showcase their ambitions, which while admirable, is not something you should show to customers but rather investors. This resulted in a lot of disappointment tbh.
2. Optimisation. E3 looks amazing, but its negative impact would be an FPS game with a substantial quality bump, meaning that the amount of people who can play it will depend on their hardware more significantly than the average game, this likely also negatively affected console releases as well.
3. Writing direction. Its blatantly obvious having completed the game now around 10 or so times, that the dialogue and writing does not match the character language output by the player character Aiden nor other NPCs. Sometimes Aidens character reacts almost psychotically or sociopathically, but seems to be the result of VA recordings not matching up with what they were reacting too. Not only that, the story appears to fluctuate and the first half of the game seems to have almost no importance to the plot whatsoever, meaning they rebuilt the game after a bunch of design decision changes in the background and altered the story heavily as well.
4. The mythical "wider audience" approach. Unfortunately, grim and dark games don't sell nearly as well as bright and vivid games these days, meaning that they likely opted for a pallet change in order to appeal to a larger group of people. Many people felt the first game was way too oppressive in its atmosphere and in techlands own words, "we never set out to make a horror game" which is something that has stuck with me for a while and something I find interesting. However, I don't think it needs to be a horror game ot be dark and grim and realistically we really should of gotten the E3 look to the game. Bioshock Infinity managed a sprawling metropolis in the sky and looked just as grand, if not with more colour and thats almost a decade before DL2's release.
Overall, I hope techland continues with what they're doing but for the next game, bring back that E3 feel but make it retail with whatever location we go to next.
Simply put. They took what could've been something special and ruined it. Sure, it's still an reasonably enjoyable game. However, it could easily been so much more had they not destroyed what they had.
Two things I absolutely hate about the new version. 1. All the ridiculous yellow paint that shows you EXACTLY what they want you to do. Removing any mystery whatsoever. Everything is always obvious. 2. The ridiculous back-to-Dead Island-sillyness.
This is even more depressing when realizing that almost everything shown in Dying Light 1's preview was kept in the retail game (aside from some voiceover and textures obviously). In fact, the little girl that Brekken (now Crane) saves in the apartment is STILL in the base game in the SAME building.
ОтветитьThis literally looks like the case of false advertisment.
Ответитьthis has got to be a top 5 worst looking game of all time... the graphics aren't bad or anything, it's just that the color tone is absolutely nauseating
ОтветитьMost settings can be tweaked when I posted this comment,
the gray looking rendering from the game is added, which is called a "Gritty" filter.
The first parkour scene is taken in a place known as Elysium, it's not on the map but the community made on which is available on the Community Maps.
Knife poster slide is also available now from the game.
It’s my favorite game. But we need graphic rework and revamp. Overhaul content and story content.
Ответитьi honestly HATE, the very saturated and vibrant colors of the final game, glad you can make it dark and gritty with color grading in the current game
ОтветитьI think the concept like E3 2018 will take much longer to reach its final release. That's why Techland decided to change everything to this nowadays so-called instant noodle Dimming Light
Ответить2023 august update: tencent has arrived, still trash
ОтветитьE3 2018 definitely had old town vibes. Old Town ftw,
Also why are cutscenes always darker than Satan's asshole.
Dl1-dl2 e3 2019:wow look at all these buildings with different elevations!
Dl2: I LIKE FLAT!
This demo gameplay might be one of the biggest lies I’ve even experienced when buying a video game on release! Like it almost looks nothing like it :(
I love the game still tho it’s very fun and I like it but damn how awesome would it be if the art style and the lvl design was somewhat the same 😵
The E3 demo reminds me of the earlier seasons of The Walking Dead, whereas the retail version is the later seasons being more "Post" apocalypse
ОтветитьAnd then the Good Night, Good Luck update made it more like E3, implementing gritty visuals more similar to E3, adding in sliding down billboards with a knife, and smoothing out the parkour to make it flow better like in E3
ОтветитьIm playing it atm with the filters and modded parkour and its still a travesty
ОтветитьHonestly this deceptive advertising in the last six years has ruined any credibility on the gaming industry. I legit watch trailers now and say hm i wonder whats getting cut out and whats being lied about. Literally gave an french/english style alleyway in concept but delivers a neighborhood that looks like brazil instead gtfo
ОтветитьA lot of the stuff you say you can’t find anywhere in the game is because it’s actually a part of the Elysium map which is not in the game at all and it’s extremely disappointing. A lot of what you showed off in the beginning is what got me excited for the game I’m 2018 and the game we got is basically no where near the same besides some character and visuals. Also when you point out the PK castle being off in the distance, there’s a water tower to the left across the water, that’s the actual water tower they show in the trailer, not the one you pointed out
ОтветитьThey really did f up with dying light 2… I want to play the E3 (2018) and (2019) versions
That’s what dying light 2 should have been
I’m a time traveler from the year 2023. Techland finally made an update called “good night & good luck” where they implemented the dagger fall and the monkey bar kicking—as well as a few other nice changes. Still isn’t what it should have been but at least they’re still trying to earn some of their fans back.
ОтветитьThe E3 version almost reminds me of Dying Light 1 in a way. Wish they would have stuck with this and released it in 2019.
ОтветитьI wish I could alter reality to where we ended up gettin the E3 version of the game 😔 same case with watch dogs 1
Ответитьthe dead horse is still in the game
Ответитьpause, how is this guy playing the game on these settings 😂
ОтветитьWhy did they try and force FromSoft combat on us?
ОтветитьThanks consoles! (Looking at you PS4, Xbox one and Xbox series s)
ОтветитьDying light 2 retail version is a scam
ОтветитьIt is like watching Pubg grapics vs Fortnite.
Ответитьthe atmosphere was dark and cool in dying light in dying light 2 everything looks like fortnite
ОтветитьRetail is unrealistic . E3 2019 was the best.
ОтветитьThe Castle was actually supposed to be a Peacekeeper Citadel according to the data miners. Probably what Chris Avellone had in mind.
ОтветитьI wished they made it where the longer in the dark the stronger you are and maybe get that little volatile thing but no you just drop dead
ОтветитьBit late to this but i just got the game and absolutely love it, i feel like graphics wise its just much better at night tho
ОтветитьE3 2019 best
ОтветитьThe area shown in the e3 demo is a different area of the map i really hope they open that area up in a future expansion dlc
ОтветитьI keep thinking about buying this, since I like and am currently replaying the 1st one. But this... I mean, this is so disappointing that it makes me never wanna touch DL2. I haven't look into it extensively before, only saw the very same e3 trailers. Every change they made, the visuals, the aesthetics, the layout, the city - all of it looks pretty damn awful in the release version to me. I wasn't a big fan of the total post-apoc, overgrown vibe to begin with, but they made it into some absurd cartoon, from what I see in the overiew of the city
Ответитьif they could combine e3 with the retail it would be awesome, the more detailed streets were so cool
ОтветитьDamn, the dude in the demo is a fkin spiderman
ОтветитьMore like devolved. Bright and cartoony, nothing like the first game
Ответитьthe gravity of earth is changing during Dying light 2
ОтветитьThe RPG style just killed it .... that is why the Camera movement etc looks weird too and i dont know why the hell they went with the Cartoon Graphics
ОтветитьDevelopers almost always lie to gamers and gamers are always happy to take their lies, because these are very tempting lies.
ОтветитьInterestingly the sink scene seems to have sunlight which would suggest there’s a window on the left which would have made the building design completely different, could just be a weird light bulb though. The dead horse is still in the game and looks pretty freaky. Juan didn’t sound as flaming either lol.
What I miss is the horror of the first game, while both are very bleak. We’re missing a lot of the carnage that made the world feel hostile, no abandoned quarantine zones full of lost survivors with barricades and supplies, no volatile nests stacked with bodies. I suppose it’s just the time difference but the Gre sites could have still replicated it but they feel like empty places zombies just moved into.
It’s easy enough to add “SCARI FAST ZOMBI ZOMG!,11” but to actually give it any impact, the world they inhabit needs to be believable as a habitat, ultimately that did the work when you were chased into a building full of corpses you were desperate to get out but couldn’t turn around with them behind you. That made “Extraction” a very unsettling mission.
That arch has been cut out because the demo of the game has taken place in elyseum.
ОтветитьThey showed the ending of the actual retail game on the E3 biuld?! What?! LOOOL
ОтветитьI hate how smooth and gentle this game feels, just play the first one and compare it to this, then you’ll know what im talking about
Ответитьas usual, the devs went for the tactic of "false advertising" to sell their game
Ответить
