Rather than deleting the password in the XML file , can’t you just use the Password that was displayed as “CA9C” to unlock the sheet? Or is this somehow encrypted and not really the password?

Hi. I protected a worksheet with a password and it seems like it is using a much stronger password algorithm instead of plain text. I see something like this: "<sheetProtection algorithmName="SHA-512" hashValue="xiHyE5+nvsbSiVC9hCMM3YlSWhYcnKQhc/Y+gv04KB/Tayx9mXMfd4+zLy6q+wO5jj2b9TQl/gqYqwuxbqdk+A==" saltValue="EX94U9656XLgjna/cGgpPA==" spinCount="100000" sheet="1" objects="1" scenarios="1"/>". Could it an option that define the password algorithms to be used in Excel?
