James Gunn DC Slate Finally Revealed

So my fear was and is that he will dial up the comedy and dial down the dark/horrific stuff. This gives me some hope it will not all be jokes and nonsense. I like a bit of fun but I'm happiest when things are going to hell hahaha

I’m honestly excited and can’t wait to see how it unfolds. I love Dick Grayson but I also love Damien Wayne, also their big brother little brother relationship is amazing and if he’s gonna bring that to the universe then perfect.

If we get swampthing we might get a new Constantin also.

I don’t love the slate but the thing I hate the most is the continuity between live action and video games/animation. It’s so unnecessary and restrictive to do that and it doesn’t make a lot of sense having them appear in different formats of storytelling. It’s just confusing. Let the video games and animation be their own things. It makes more sense

Imma go and make som sandwiches and watch what happens. I ain’t getting excited because DC has let me down to much.

I'm honestly interested in what Gunn's DC Universe could offer with all of the announcements that he has made so far with the movies and TV shows.

I feel for you when you say the line up doesn’t sound like much. But I think if anyone has a chance at utilizing odd characters , Gunn is the guy for the job. Superman will be a good test on bringing in legacy characters.

They really gonna subvert our expectations of a Superman movie by making him want to be a superhero. Truly mind blowing.

Besides that I think this is all a lot of experiments to see where we can go. Additionally while the slate seems big ultimately it’s still less than that time marvel decided to release 20 projects in 2 years

Gunn fucked up by not intergrating Battinson into the DCU. He's young, looks the part, and has so much story potential with other heroes and fantastical stories. Also Gunn skipping 90% of the batfamily jumping straight to Damian for the DCU's Chapter One is so fucking stupid. Also Superman being Truth, Justice, the American Way once again is a breath of fresh air.

I’m most excited for swamp thing. I thought the swamp thing show was really good. Lots of horror aspects and if the movie is anything like the show, it should be great

Man i'm so worried, i personally think James Gunn is horrible with DC, The Suicide Squad is so overrated, and the peacemaker show is awful in my opinion. It's gonna be a shitshow.

Very weak slate tbh. I don’t see how this is supposed to compete against Avengers 5, Spider-man 4, Deadpool 3, Fantastic Four, Secret Wars etc releasing in the same 2025-2027 timeframe 🤷🏻‍♂️

I’ve not been impressed by James Gunns work so far so… I’m remaining skeptical until we see some trailers.

I really like how it uses more unknown characters and the biggest 2. Using characters like The Authority and Swamp Thing is perfect to make sure it doesn’t feel like the same thing all over again. For example, we have a Flash movie and 9 seasons of a show. We have 2 Aquaman movies. 2 Wonder Woman movies and so on. It feels nice to use other characters now for a few years to make sure the main JL members aren’t overused in different continuities. Only using the very important ones (Batman and Superman) in the first few years

I guess I don't exactly hate it, but I'm not really interested in watching any of it. Maybe that will change with more information, but I'm mostly checked out on DC at this point.

I wouldn't be excited for anything until they release consistently good projects, doesn't have to be amazing at all. But I feel like this line up is introducing something new to make something great, but giving us known things to excite us. I don't like the tie in with video games, just weird and it is not always going to work. Else world projects are really decent, but do not over complicate the inclusion of else world projects and DCU. I'm tired of comic book stuff being overrun by marvel so this will give us other stuff to look towards as well as the boys, invincible, and so on. But when it's big budget stuff I'm tired of waiting for something that is mediocre and down right bad. Just don't care for super hero stuff as much as before, but when something fresh like The Batman come in I'll buy in as that aesthetic smacks.

Don't know why... But I have a feeling the authority movie is gonna be directed by Zack snyder...

As an ex fan of DC films I just do not care for this anymore just team MCU and hope they make more money and DC gets another reboot in 2027

I'm a huge DC fan and nothing but the Swamp Thing show made me feel anything. Batman is like my favorite thing ever and I'm honestly not excited for it at all. I just don't want to see Damian and another new Batman. I just don't want the DCU.

I have an idea of how cavill could return. (I pitched my own dcu for fun once and james gunn is practically stealing stuff from my mind so here we go)

ok something I want is with the new elseworlds films is to adapt comics that don't fit in the main universe. it could work as seeing the new superman and batman but in russia

or here's two pitches. all star superman, superman is drawn really big and quite bulky but not a roid rager. calm. it's a type of elseworld i call parallel. this is what the batman / long halloween comic is. it's a very traditional version but outside the main universe as opposed to red son which is alternate. so it could be confusing to be the same actor. lets say for example david corenswet is the new superman (so I have a name). it would be confusing if he played another near identical superman. so how about a different actor who fits that superman perfectly in build. like brandon routh. robbed twice of a great product despite himself being amazing. it would be closure not to him but even the chris reeve superman universe, or not but he would fit that well.

in bvs specifically, cavill was quite unique, slicked back hair, his form was very built but roided. his superman very stoic and firmer than a typical superman. he could fit a darker environment like a superman who lost a lot. and many say he's too old to play him long term now, but ben affleck and gal gadot should deserve something too and their fans. ben affleck is still good shape but 50 so traditional batman is a bit too much.

so... make a kingdom come elseworlds film. with the dceu trinity having one last outing to give their characters a send off, and their fans a conclusion. why not one of the best comic books ever that happens to fit them perfectly. zachary levi can play shazam as he has always to me had that alex ross age and look. hell for laughs even ryan renolds as green lantern, why not redeem him. oh but flash, well he's pure speedforce with no face. it's weird how well it fits. a role for cyborg and aquaman could be put in maybe (it doesn't need to be 1:1 the comic)

Okay I’ve accepted that Henry Cavill won’t be back. But after the announcements of the new slate I’m especially pissed.

They said they wanted a younger Superman. Yet now we’re getting a Batman in the DCEU who has been batman long enough to where Damian is the Robin?

If you have a Batman that already has Damian as a Robin.l, and you’re already giving us a supergirl movie as one of the first DCEU movies, then why is Superman young in this and not older? If you’re already set to give us a supergirl that means this Superman has to be around for like 5-6 years at this point.

TLDR: what’s the point of casting a young Superman if we got a Bruce Wayne with Damian as Robin and Supergirl is immediately getting introduced? Wouldn’t that work better for a mature and older Supes?

I’ve said this several times, I’m not really going to bother with this new dc universe, I’ve already stopped watching the mcu after watching she hulk, and when they confirmed that Henry cavill won’t return as Superman, I was done with dc, the only movie franchise I am still excited for is the Monsterverse

Tha whole series tied up to movies is stupid and just a way to milk money out if people. No1 has time to watch a bunch of films and series just to keep up that's one of the reasons I just stopped watching MCU after end game phase four was something ridiculous like 120 hours of screen time that's just oversaturation people will get bored of it

Damian is my favorite Robin too. I like the fact that his a arrogant pr!ck. That he’s a murderous teenager who’s father is Batman. Seeing how Batman is trying to reprogram him and turn him into a hero.

I just finished watching swamp thing (2019) and it's amazing, they cancelled it for being too expensive and it shows, it was amazing I would definetely recommend to watch it

The Swamp Thing show was done by James Wan and I really liked it.

Honestly, I am looking forward to Batman, Superman, Green Lantern, and Swamp Thing (he is one of my all-time favourite characters), and I am interested in Supergirl and Booster Gold... the rest, I feel kinda meh but gonna wait and see

I'm honestly excited for the elseworld stories more than anything else. I feel that more creative freedom will be given to those stories. I am glad the Green Lantern series will finally be launched after like 10 damn years. I still don't have hope that it'll be a good story.

I couldn't care less. They wanted a younger superman however they're introducing the 4th Robin which means there will be an older batman which was the same dynamic with Snyder,why even bother rebooting it if that's the case. So is Viola Davis going to reprise her role as Amanda walker in this show that nobody wants? If that's the case why isn't Cavill coming back? I really don't give a shit at this point, I think there's going to be a lot of garbage in it. Nothing I heard made me interested to see what's going to happen

I'm hoping the announcement of the swamp thing horror movie is to eventually get a whole line-up of the darker/horror side of the DCU, with maybe a batman who laughs finale? 🤔
