CONCLUSION: Time to draw some conclusions and summarize this review of the DJI Phantom Vision 2 +;

THE BUILD QUALITY: It's made out of plastic and looks like a toy, but really, who cares if the resulting images and video give you and your clients what they're looking for? The biggest and most important modification to the Phantom is the new gimbal that does such an amazing job at smoothing out video, you'd swear you were videoing from a crane, not from an aerial drone. However, we'd be remiss if we didn't say that we wish the Phantom were made out of slightly more robust materials, but that would have undoubtedly cut down on the flight time of the batteries with the increase in weight and we wish the still image quality were just a wee bit better. Over all though, we felt the build quality was pretty solid, and we gave it a 9/10 - just don't drop it, and new sure to reel the phantom in when you hit 15% battery power remaining.

EASE OF FLIGHT AND CAMERA OPERATION: The flight controls are surprisingly intuitive and relatively easy - you'll be flying like a pro in no time. It's really responsive to inputs and you can overcompensate a bit too easily at times. If you fly out of range or if the transmitter loses power, the Phantom will - via GPS - return to where it took off - kind of neat knowing it won't fly away and be lost forever. What we didn't like - and this probably problematic with all first person viewer drones - was that it's easy to get turned around and suddenly left is right and right is left and you can get into trouble pretty quickly - especially if you're operating in tight quarters - to reduce the risk of property damage, you may want to purchase the prop guards if you find that you'll need the drone in tight spaces. Camera operation is simple and it too is intuitive - if you're a pro, you'll recognize the manual controls you'll have over the camera to give your images a bit more punch that you're looking for. DJI has done a good job here, we gave the ease of flight and camera operation a 9.5/10.

OPTICAL QUALITY AND THE QUALITY OF RESULTS: The still image quality is really good, but what sets the vision 2 + apart is the impact the now included gimbal has on the video quality. I think I've made that point about 10 times so far in this review, but it's such a marked improvement in quality that you simply can't say it enough. On the downside, there's a bit too much moire, so if you shoot real estate be aware of that as moire will rear it's ugly head on rooftops, power lines and other patterned surfaces and it can be really distracting. Hopefully there will be some kind of filter that can be attached in the future. I've read that the image quality and optics are better on the GO Pro, but I'm not convinced that the resulting images of the Phantom will mean that much to your clients, as they look really good. The bottom line is the results of the phantom are impressive enough, we gave it a 8.5/10 for optical quality for stills and a 9.5/10 for the quality of the results - specifically with video and video smoothness.

VALUE: As the first to market with an all inclusive solution to aerial video and photography at a really reasonable price, then it's really hard to knock the value of phantom vision 2 +, all the improvements are nice, but the gimbal and the resulting smoothness in the video quality changes everything. The original phantom vision 2 brought affordable droning to the masses, but the phantom vision 2 + extends that reach into the realm of professionals with video quality that's good enough to compete with some really high end stuff - is it DSLR like? No, not really, but its really good and really, really smooth and for most applications its good enough. So good in fact, that your audience is unlikely to know that it was shot with something so relatively affordable. So for value, we gave it a 10/10!OVERALL 46.5/50 and our highly recommended rating
