i have an ipad mini (the first one) and its pretty old, hasnt been used for a few years but i wanna try to restore it. when i turn it on, it takes me to the apple logo with an update bar, goes away mid update, and is stuck on apple logo. what can i do without deleting data?

My iPad Pro (2020) screen was unresponsive for over an hour and nothing seemed able to bring it back from its frozen state. Luckily, I found this video and tried the steps mentioned at the end (press volume up, volume down, and hold the top button). Voila! Suddenly the iPad came back to life. Much appreciated. Thank you!

Mine's a 2021 model so I tried your newer model trick. So I did the volume buttons up/down thing than right after I sat holding the power button down nearly a minute and the keycode pops on screen. Well, it was on keycode screen when I started the process, like your's was, I don't think it rebooted. (?) Im so frustrated with this thing it's only charging when powered off..!?
