people need to educated for drug price, the ONLY reason pharmacies and pharmaceuticals able to charge as high as they want is because customers are not INFORMED with price. how many of you actually ask the price of the prescriptions when you send it to the pharmacy? if we all start asking the price, these price will come down. an example an antibiotic drug i had years ago at a Walgreen was 95buck. the same exact drug at Wal-Mart is 4.50. i was so stunned when i pick up the prescription thought they might made a mistake. if there is walmart around GET YOUR PRESCRIPTION from them, with insurance or without insurance they are dirt cheap on the generic brand compare to blood suckers like CVS and walgreen.

I love free market capitalism ruling over healthcare. All hail shareholders!

It is only possible for this disgusting, monstrous industry to report a profit to their stakeholders, quarter on quarter, decade upon decade, by continually creating the conditions for people to become increasingly ill! The problem of health care here in the US is that it is thought of in terms of INSURANCE, NOT "health care" as a whole.

Big Pharma is not interested in CURES, only TREATMENTS. Cures have a diminishing customer base, while treatments are an ongoing revenue stream (which they manipulate through price or production to maximize profit).

Interesting. I'm on Medicare and have Advantage as well with an HMO. All my prescriptions are either $10 or free. So clearly it's not a problem for everyone!

Many pharmacists and doctors in the US were stealing opiates and selling them illegally. Also doctors were caught with committing the most medicaid and medicare fraud. While thousands upon thousands have been kicked off pain medication, these thousands are dying from suicide and resorting to street drugs. 💔

Wrong, Pharmacists do not dictate the price of prescriptions and should not be blamed for the high costs of drugs. Drug manufacturers increased the costs of prescription drugs. And the middle man,the PBM , steered all the money into their own profits. Check out the salaries of the CEO of CVScaremark and Expressed Script,they are all in the millions of dollars.Check out the profits of these PBM,they are all in millions of dollars too,there is a big conflict of interest . Look at the structure of CVScaremark,it is a PBM but it also operates hundred of pharmacies .It is like when that person is the Health department and also owns hundreds of restaurants ,how could it be fair to all the other restaurants.

Antibiotics in Asia was only 50¢ a tablet here it's $100 for a 10 day supplies

Do we have a list of how many % of new drugs in the world were developed in the US since 2000? If we could get that data, it would explain the cost of the pharmaceutical industry. Also in other countries, drugs are heavily subsidized so basically it means every tax payer pays for drugs regardless of if you use it or not. Research and development is expensive. And without these researches i think we would still be suffering from a lot of illness without any cure or relief.
