Why do we think Nari = Devi?? | Feminism In India

We’ve all heard it on many melodramatic occasions - "aurat toh devi ka roop hoti hai!" While at the offset this can sound like a fairly nice compliment, the reality is a tad different!

This line of thinking essentially puts women on a pedestal, and expects from them a level of perfection that is only achievable by some divine forces. Holding women to impossibly high standards takes away their humanity, turning them into heroes who can seemingly do no wrong. They are seen as infallible and perfect, and if they do slip up, they will be quick to be seen as failures, betraying what they stand for, and disappointing those that believe in them.

So in this video the valid question we will be asking is: Why does nari = devi?
