Policies are only written to use against someone that doesn't drink the jello of a corporation or agency's unethical behavior. These days if someone rocks the boat of illegal or unethical activity, then they can fit any activity to jjustify a whistblower which is not appreciated but viewed as trouble maker that will ruin their image. Its all about saving face. That's why they usually let execs resign and not press illegal charges.... To avoid audits and public awareness.

I have a work laptop with Teams and Outlook. I used my employer's credentials to go to Microsoft's website and download Teams to my personal desktop. Sometimes Teams is active on my personal desktop PC during work hours. One day, I went to a NSFW while Teams was active on my personal desktop. Could my employer find out that I visited that website? My personal desktop is not networked to my work laptop or anything.

Hi Leila, is there a way/possibility where you can add work colleagues to your Teams group but with view rights only? My understanding is that guests can be added and have view rights to the same documents but not edit. If you add anyone within your own organization to your Teams group, they are automatically added as a member and have view and edit rights.

What if you had a situation when within the same organization, you have different departments with different functions? It would be great if I could add members on my group, for the purpose of visibility/(view only rights). Our team works on certain projects/task where the other department finds our progress as important and very relevant. But I would not want anyone of them to be able to work/edit the task tracker dashboard.

is there an option, within the setting that would allow for this scenario.

Hi Leila - your video's are great! I need help with audio stuttering when presenting in Teams. I present monthly hybrid meetings and the people on Teams cannot hear the meeting properly. The wifi signal is fast enough but I don't know why the audio is so bad. Do you have a video on this I can use ? thank you!

Please, can someone explain me:
I received invitation from my business partner to join their Teams group. And there was some “agreement” with permissions requested that I needed to agree before the connection is done.
I just worry, if they will have access to my email and other Microsoft files on my computer???

It's not necessarily the boss tracking their employees but the IT team has the ability to track the productivity of each employee. The HR department in collaboration with the IT department generally goes through this data to improve productivity and efficiency of employees. They offer opportunities to improve without telling you they have seen someone being slacked.

Yeah, you’re work and personal email and messaging services are being monitored. Anything that goes through the company network is watched. One of my former coworkers sent an encrypted email to somebody at his former employer. He was walked out of the building.
Right before the pandemic, my employer introduced a new badging system where you had to swipe your badge to get in and out of the office. My naïve coworker wondered if we were being tracked. Of course you’re being tracked. Upper management was trying to see who was coming in late and who was leaving early and who was taking three hour lunches. They was a huge layoff right after the pandemic struck.

Great info, however, we be so busy with regular work, analyzing Teams usage is probably not the best use of anyone's time. I suppose it all depends on the type of work, required deliverables, etc.

Micro managing. If they had joysticks to plug into our backs to control us, they would. When the robots come, they'll have everything they want.

This is super useful thanks. I was worried it might show individual chats. Although looking at what reports can be run, I'd say its only really useful if somebody is doing nothing at all. If you work in a fast-paced environment and you can see the individual's achievements through project goals, I don't expect managers would find this all that enlightening unless there was very little activity. But really good to see thanks!

What manager has time to analyze thud data and to develop actions to change this. And if they would do all of the above how is this going to impact people's health and company productivity. Micromanaging people just show the weakness of a manager. Microsoft you should be ashamed about creating tools to track people. Ashamed

It doesn't mean positive relation with how much you get your work done. Instead, it means you don't know how to get your job done, you have to get help most of the time, or, you are wasting time on chatting.

Bodyshot:

I agree with you on meetings not being productive in general!

However, I do disagree that phone calls are not a productive means of transference of data and necessary facilitating of end point resolution.

The personal computing device that most people today call a phone a highly productive tool!

Via the web and via phone!

As an Administrator and a boss myself, this isn't for use by a "boss" but admin-only features hence being in/only accessible in the Admin center that bosses don't have access to. Perhaps more useful in investigating incidents or usage for other reasons related to the subscription, not for tracking/managing emplpyees' "usage" of any kind.

....what would be interesting to know is, if you are using your own device ( laptop, tablet, pc, etc) as your tool for work as well,.... if they can view what you do on your private side...I was recommended to use a different device for private matters...the issue is that they have tracked you IP already.....many companies want to save in costs, so they are happy to install the necessary software in your own device..and if there are IT issues, depending what your " title" is, they may support you or not..🤔

FUD. No boss actually has access to that. IT admins do.

Are you one of those people who had that one "Bill Gates as Hitler" wallpaper with an army behind him? And no, that's not an evocation of Godwin's Law, every anti-MS person I knew had that wallpaper.

This is so valuable to know. So if the organization can see when IT is helping you and can see the IP address it’s coming from.
