Before you install the insert place s corner of a freezer bag over the bottom of the insert it saves fuel prevents leaks too zippo Fanatic trick !!!

A piece of nilon wraps the two sides of the zippo tube around the bottom to help the zippo avoid scratching the tube and hold gasoline longer

I just read through the comments and I never knew people collected Zippos. I have a rechargeable insert and a regular one. I actually got both from collecting points from packs of Marlboro.

do I have to refill it every week even if I don't use it? is it dangerous to light it if the fluid dries out?

Is it alright if I use a different brand of lighter fluid? What if I replace the wick with twine? Will it still work?

For how long should fuel last even if I don't use the Zippo. Mine stops working in 8-9 hrs
