How Do Fraudsters Do Sim Swap Scams? | Sim Swap Fraud Method Explained

Love this video as a current Federal officer and previous IRS employee everyone needs to be extremely vigilant about protecting your online info. My best advice through your phone provider the scammers yes want your phone number but why? well they don't just want your phone number most people are lazy as hell and use one email address for their accounts. So what the scammers do they not only call up tmobile for instance a million times and finally one technician is just tired doesn't want to ask too many questions they let them in....trust me they eventually will even if you have a security warning on your account saying no one can do a sim swap unless in person..... they aren't being paid enough so they truly just don't care. So what do we do? we gotta cover our own six. Use a masked email account what the sim swapper is trying to do is not just your phone your email account info. use a masked email this forwards emails from your accounts to another email account usually well at least with my method it's encrypted too. The swim swapper is SOL also I used masked phone numbers for EVERYTHING so what happens if a sim swapper manages to just maybe guess a bank I use well my phone number won't even work in fact the code goes to another place it doesn't even get forwarded to my actual number to protect against sim swaps. Also always have different emails with each bank mask the emails or just use different email accounts. Furthermore use strong 2FA Authy is amazing and you can have it only authorized to one device that way they can't use it on another phone Don't trust google authenticator it's trashhhh if you want to up your game use a 2FA key which makes it damn near impossible to get in something like a yubikey! If you want to even go harder into protecting yourself hire data brokers or people who will delete your info from the web itself services like Delete Me can do this these folks go through and delete your data from databrokers and others that way google search will delete your info as well you would be suprised the amount of things you can find about yourself when scrolling through google it's truly scary!
