So in the past few days people have been absolutely obliterating the team behind Call of Duty. People are calling for boycotts and calling out the company for several reasons, and why you may ask?
It all stems from a tweet that Nick Mercs made in regards to an an LGBTQ altercation outside of a school board meeting. It was a reply to Chris Puckett, a popular caster/broadcaster who had shared the video of the altercation saying “Americans are in a sad place right now, Let people love who they love”.
To Which Nick Mercs replied with this
“They Should Leave Little Children alone. That’s the Real issue”
Let’s be clear right out the gate, there is nothing wrong with this statement and in fact, there is a lot of truth to it. But the team over at Call of Duty felt that they needed to not only reply to this but use as a justification to remove Nick Merc’s operator completely out of the game. And that’s exactly what they did. They replied saying:
“Due to recent events, we have removed the “NICKMERCS Operator bundle” bundle from the Modern Warfare II and Warzone store. We are focused on celebrating PRIDE with our employees and our community.”
NICKMERCS Twitter. So just to be completely crystal clear, the team over at Call of Duty believes that grooming children with ideologies and beliefs that should really only be discussed among adults is not only completely okay but it is also encouraged as one of the main missions behind the LGBTQ+ movement. That is what they are saying by removing Nick Mercs operator out of the game because of his tweet.
Nick Mercs, thankfully is sticking to his guns and is not apologizing, which he has no reason to. He also said he will keep the tweet up for good measure.
Other streamers and big figures in the community like DrDisrespect have also expressed their anger and disappointment at Call of Duty team for giving into that. The weather you agree or disagree with the tweet or the actions they took, politics do not belong in gaming or in any industry and we keep seeing that more and more nowadays. This ultimately, is a huge mistake from the COD team and really shows where their heads are at.
