How unfortunate, yet I feel that something has been going on from her and her coach since before the Budapest WC. Something was just off. Don’t know if was injuries, something mental, or they were just playing possum games. If it’s not someone else’s fault that she tripped and fell…I don’t think that there’s any provision for her inclusion on the team for the 800M.

I don't know who changed her race strategy of running from the front, because every race she ran inside she has been tripped and almost fall. She is too tall to be in the mix of runners. She is either lead the race or trail it and run like hell at the end to bypass everybody.

Pride comes before a fall... she wasn't paying enough attention during the race and paid the price.... live and learn.

So don’t you have to make a team in an individual sport to actually make the team? This is pure nonsense if you wanna make the 4x400 or 4x100 relays you should be the top 6 finishers at trials, this should be a rule that should not be broken, why would I wanna give up my spot to someone who did not challenge me at trials, don’t they only give up 6 medals at worlds and the Olympics?

Fellow heavy favourites KC Lighfoot (PV) & Brooke Andersen (Hammer) also didn't make the US Team as well as '23 World Discus Champ Lagi Tausaga & '23 World Hammer Silver Medallist Janee' Kassanavoid. Getting WC Bronze last yr followed by this fall might just be exactly what Athing needs re motivation & focus! Can see her going from 1.54.97 to 1.53.99 by the end of this yr for #3 all-time & then running 1.53.27 next yr for a new & long overdue WR! USATF will definitely try to get Athing to run all the rounds of the W4x4 & Mixed 4x4 (with Quincy Wilson) in Paris to get her 2 Gold Medals & possibly at least one WR in the process!

As an American I believe the US has lost any chance of Olympic gold in the 800m. Congratulations to the three young ladies that made it through but they are subpar athletes in comparison to Athing and what the rest of the world will be sending to Paris.
