amanuense is a choral setting of an excerpt from niccolo vitug's enter deeply. the poem tells the story of how rich and tragic San Lorenzo Ruiz's life was as an amanuensis (can be liken to a stenographer) and as a filipino catholic during the spanish colonization.
the motifs you will hear in the composition reflects to the crests and troughs of st. lorenzo ruiz's life and is also meant to emulate the form of how the poem was written: free as a wave, flowing like a scribble.
