So I just finished watching the movie for the first time absolutely loved without a doubt better than the original the first one was your typical vengeful spirit returns to haunt the people that wronged her only difference is it’s filmed in OBS but I loved for the sequel it was far grounded in reality and something that could happen with a hacker group fucking with people for their own pleasure sure the name Unfriended doesn’t really work in this context but who cares this movie was awesome. Now I saw the first one around the time it came out on Blu-ray and loved it so when it announced it got a sequel I was super excited unfortunately I wasn’t able to catch it in theaters but from reviews I watched on the film like Chris Stuckman’s mentioned that different endings were shown at different screening so when I saw the movie and saw I guess you can say the “canon” ending was fuck you everybody dies I was hoping one of the alternate ending was at the very least Matias reuniting with Amaya which thankfully it was. Out of all the fuck you everybody dies endings the canon one is definitely the best I like the idea of The Circle killing everyone and leaving no loose ends behind like they were never there like a phantom and I think it works best with the final shot panning out to show someone looking a six different monitors. Now as far is which is the best that’s tough it’s a close race between the canon ending and Matias and Amaya reuniting a part of me likes the canon ending more just because it goes with the tone the movie had been presenting up to that point but another part likes the reuniting ending more because for a movie that was so dark and just hopeless seeing there is some light at the end of the tunnel is nice but I think if I had to pick one I’m going with the reuniting ending for the reason I mentioned but also someone else in the comments section mentioned it leaves things open ended for a possible sequel would Matias be framed and go to prison and the third one focuses on a new group of friends investigating his trial? Would it be able Matias on the run from them, or perhaps Matias working together with the FBI to take down the circle that is internal (Shoutout to anyone that gets that reference) honestly I wish this series continued I’m not sure if this movie bombed or they just decided not to pursue future movies but this movie has some many amazing ideas and The Circle could’ve been the Jason Voorhees of this series been the antagonist of all future Unfriended films just sucks the series ended here with how much potential there was future movies

3rd ending: should've been the ending

I have a theory.
The guy with the glasses who has been observing everything on the monitors the whole time at the end of the movie is Charon I (the heavily implied leader of The Circle)

I bought this on iTunes and didn’t get any of these endings I got them voting on Matias living or not and then him getting hit with a van and Amaya’s ending kinda being up in the air

3rd ending was the coolest just because I love the idea that the Charons respect his boldness

People often say there's no supernatural element to this film (as opposed to the first), but that's not entirely clear.
As many critics pointed out, some of the things the Circle members do - e.g. the glitch that follows them across cameras - seem beyond the capability of hackers.

Not to mention the explicit occult symbolism of the group: Charon, River Styx, the circle having a strong symbolic association with witchcraft, 13 members of the Circle (reflecting the membership of a traditional witches coven), etc. Also note that in the folder with the videos of the kidnapped women one of the last files is labeled "Laura" and is noticeably larger than any of the others. Could this mean some connection between the Circle and the paranormal events of the first Unfriended?

Cause you think "oh good theyre ok now" then ur just left with Ericas scream like😳😳😳 the ending they went with triggered more laughing than shock i think cause its just ".... so thats it then..." but yea ending no.2 is WAY too dark cause they were just preying on the fact that he never devoted time to learning sign language for his gf

3rd ending gives a more creepy vibe. Let’s them know the circle can reach out and touch you at a moments notice. But also can let you live. Your life is theirs to play woth

3rd Ending is most interesting, because it leaves open-ended what would happen to Matias now. He's still framed for the videos and what happened to Erica.

I think they vote to let Matias live because they derived sadistic pleasure from watching his arrest, conviction, public shaming, etc. This could have made for an interesting sequel, where another group of friends perhaps connected to either Mathias, et. al. and / or Erica are following the case or trial. Matias had talked about the Circle, but they erased all evidence and so no one believes him except maybe one conspiracy theorist type in the group. We follow a web call where they compare their research, follow new developments, maybe talk to a source and they slowly learn the Circle is real (and of course, the Circle knows about them too).

I also never took the time to pause and read whats all over the hackers screen at the end. It really was game night. they were watching them the whole time, they had over and unders betting on them, a live chat

I was hoping for a ending where the hackers were exposed and the police catch em. Well, maybe the creators will make one where that does happen.
