Today I wanted to send my daughter who lives in Thailand some Christmas money. My Sparkasse wanted 35 € for sending 100 €! That's the fee of both banks and currency exchange. If I use WISE, does she need to have a WISE account, too?
In January I'll move to Thailand and want to transfer my savings from my Sparkasse to a Thai bank. Again, it'll cost me almost 100 € for transferring 50.000 € from bank to bank.
So I wonder if there's a cheaper way and came across WISE. But once I am in Thailand I will open a Thai account and use my Thai ATM/debit card, so is it a good idea to sign on to WISE?
What's the best way to do a couple of transfers from a German to a Thai bank? How much would a transfer of 50.000 € cost me with WISE?
I'd appreciate it if you'd take the time to answer. :)

Wise locks accounts with no reason explanation. Sooner rather than later you'll get ripped and left with no money for living. I have a very bad experience of using wise.

Yes I do have a small problem and I emailed them and they came back within two days, problem not solved but they do operate an email.

Never get a bloodywise card! The company is useless. They are a train wreck. Never before has a company be so hard to deal with. Get a Revolt card. They know what they are doing. Plus they have no one to easily complain to. Use wise and get stranded overseas.

I opened an account with them and there seemed to be a constant flow of questions regarding my identity. I probably would not have opened it if I had known of the ordeal. Furthermore, there was no email stating "you are approved" or "we have more questions". I had to log into my account to see what the status was. I found that odd. After the account opened, It cost me $20 for my first wire which is OK, I guess. I would have expected less considering they claim to be cheaper/free. The account is now opened, and I'll use it to pay and receive moneys via the IBAN feature, which is good.

Wise, so poor service. And their account verify process is terrible.

I have opened the Currency Balance account one main with account number is in GBP and $ and have funds in both balance
When I use my second $ balance I used to pay a friend in $ it indicted fees but Wise information indicates no charge for the same currency transfer or pay
There is no clear instructions to tell us how to pay from the multi currency

Are there countries within the list of places where Wise works that are especially problematic? My reason to use it is to avoid using my Canadian debit card because in Japan I get dinged with horrible FXS rate and fees. when I purchase anything from a Japanese merchant. Also, there are risks too carrying large amounts of cash anywhere.

Been using both cards but recently bigpay have this cross border transaction fee and I use it for my spotify subscription.

Mostly my wise card are save for currency online shopping transaction. I also use it to receive payment from different currency which leads me to have both cards for different purposes.

The freeze purposes definitely on as always. I only unfreeze it when I want to use and freeze it back after that.

OMG it has taken me 2 days of trying to get this card and I am still not approved. No wonder your friends gave up. If i din't really want this I would have given up on the first day. I just need this for my trip to bali but Ill figure out something. The enrollment is simple it is the verification, must have taken and submitted 5 different photos, my id OMG. what a frickin hassle. Just to let your viewsers know. yOur vieo was great my goodness wise needs to wise up.

I keep getting messages that I can’t transfer money from debit card, credit card, Apple wallet only a wire transfer works right now. ironically purchasing the physical Debit card had no problem charging the credit card. Anyone have an idea how to handle this problem of transfer money to debit card.

I’ve withdrawn cash from atm in Thailand using Wise card and got charged 220 bhat for 3rd party bank fee. Lesson learnt not to withdraw cash unless it is urgent case.

I have my virtual wise visa card frozen, unless I'm making a txn. Sending $ is double verified with finger print and text to my phone.

Wonder why such weakness of the wise card to be hacked easily? The service provider should have solid counter or prevention measures before it gets hacked.

Binance, uses dual authentication... Eg. Google authenticator App... / Email notification / verification code..

If I send money with wise to a bank account in another country, and after a while I deactivate my account, the other person loses the money I sent?

And can I send the money directly, without keeping it in my wise wallet?
For example, I want to pay a foreign person using the money of my paypal wallet, i don't want to connect my bank acc to wise.

Interesting.. I don't have Wise. I've been using Merchantrade Money as a multicurrency card for travelling since they launched about 5 yrs ago. They're same as Wise but without the receiving money options and multiple online card number options. They have a local Malaysian landline number to call for any problem though because it's a Malaysian company, i think. So that's one up on Wise. Recently got Enrich Money, which is also supported by Merchantrade Money. It's the same forex rates and services as Merchantrade but i can transfer money to my Malaysian bank account, so I'm likely going to fully migrate to Enrich Money once I've used up the money in my MM card. (Btw, if you use these for remittance, I've recently discovered that Touch n Go has better remittance rates despite the slightly higher rm10 transfer fee.)

WISE isn't a bank, it doesn't 'take' your money in the first place...
If your account is deactivated the money is 'bounces back' or 'returned' to the last place it came from. If the money came from YOUR other account - great...it'll be in that account.
