Dr EG, what is your opinion re castor oil in the eye to tx dry eye?

I have glaucoma plus dry eye. It is the dry eye that drives me crazy. I live in the Philippines, and we cannot get these supplements and ocular cleansers here. I have tried heat compresses, Systane, and message but nothing works. Not only that, but I never knew the Omega-3 was for eyes. The condition only seems to bother me in late afternoon to evening. I am 78, and I use the computer nearly all day long like a TV, so is it eye strain also?

My eyelids have been swelling up on and off every week. I am not using any makeup still this issue is there.

I have this problem in end of spring n summer but once coming to winter n cold air my problem getting solved becuse of air , I want to know most of the that my eye's got dry in spring n summer I visit my Dr n he get me Allergan eyedrop n artipic eyetear's Is it ok ? is it can make bad issue for long time ?

Wish I could talk to you about my condition. I've been to two doctors who told me to wait and see how the condition of my eyes develops.

This is the story...
1 About 2 weeks ago, my right eye started to hurt and I noticed the most pain is with movement
2 I noticed that the pain slowly gets worse throughout the day until at night it is very bad... though for the last few days there may be some slight improvement with slightly less pain at night.
3 Both eyes have since started to tear up and itch throughout the day. More so later in the day.
4 There is also pain in the sinus above my eyes close to the nose and in the right temple, though it's mild.
5 Every other aspect of my eye function is normal so far... tested by two doctors. Normal vision, eye pressure, pupil function, color perception

I'm praying earnestly. I just went through some very intense stress before this all happened. Could stress cause this kind eye movement pain?

Hello Dr. I have chronic dry eye problem in one eye and that is the left eye. I am wondering why one eye is affected and the other is not. Second what remedies are there for this treatment. Note I am also a chronic deficiency of vitamin D.

I'm a true believer ever since I have had the COVID vaccination it has severely caused my allergies from the likes of hayfever a hell of a lot worse than I get it which allergies can cause severe dry eyes.. my routine is followed if anyone would like to try it's worked for me.. I live in Scotland so the ingredients might be different in the states..

So first of all when I come out of a shower. I use miceller water I used to use baby shampoo but more study says that actually can dry your eyes out quicker.. So miceller water to clean the eye lashes eye lids .. Then I have eye drops called ikervis. Which is also known as retasis but the main drug in it is called cyclosporine if I have spelt that right.. This eye drop stings pretty bad but I visited my opthalmologist They have seen a good improvement from my dry eyes.. I have keratoconus had an eye graft in right eye and I wear a scleral lens in my left eye and a soft toric lens in my right eye.. I also have been diagnosed with gpd which is called giant papillary disease and this makes it difficult to wear contacts. But with the ikervis drops it has helped immensely. And other thing to point out nasal can effect how dry eyes are to with the canal that runs into the eyes.. so I highly recommend a neti pot to give your nasals a rinse before you start out your day.. and last but not least have your artificial tears stored in the fridge take one drop before breakfast. One drop before you leave the house. And carry another one in your pocket and take a drop every 2 hrs or when eye stings or feels gritty. Then when come home. Before dinner or tea as we call it in Scotland have another cold eye drop . Then at night before bed use the Miceller water to clean eyes.. Then another ikervis drop . Wait 10 minutes then use a night time eye gel this stuff is oily and slippery and you put a smear all across your eye lids and your vision will become very foggy but this will keep your eyes very greasy at night.. And don't have water before bed.. Have water with electrolytes in it also keep the body hydrated..

The routine mentioned the eye drops I use for artificial tears have ectoin in it as well which is like an extra barrier sheild to protect surface of eye.

And also have your Omega supplement before breakfast if you miss it at breakfast have it before you go to bed..

Hope this routine i do can help some of you out..

This is really informative thank you, I cannot massage my eyelids because I have had cataract surgery, and now am having a real time with dry eye. The eye surgeon was great but they have me on this xiidra eye drops for over 7 months and I really don't feel much better with it. I use refresh tears in the morning, and ivizia lubricant a couple times during the day and the xiidra drop in each eye before bed.
I do not take an omega 3 supplement but maybe could. I also have allergies, and I feel that is part of rhe problem too, I am an 80 year old female
I also have been told that I have tortuous blood vessels in my eyes, so my one eye is rather red from them, or I think the xiidra is too strong as it burns each time I use it.
I am really besise myself with all of this.

Do u have any advice for someone with eye inflammation caused by an autoimmune disease? My eyes (and whole body) gets inflamed when my autoimmune disease flares. I need relief from extreme eye pain and I'm not rich to go to the docs. Eye pain feels like someone has thrown acid into the eyes. Pain goes away when the autoimmune disease subsides.
