The Linksys WRT1900AC is the most powerful home router to date

Is this router similar to linksys WRT1900ACS and Is this router Best for home wifi?

Hi, I'm thinking of replacing a very slow D-Link DIR-300 with the Linksys WRT1900ACS Wireless Router. The current setup I have a cable looks like a telephone cable coming in directly to the DIR-300 and I have wifi from that setup. I am not sure whether the DIR-300 is a combined modem plus router, is it possible to replace it with Linksys WRT1900ACS Wireless Router?

Am running this beast with DD-WRT, the only issue I found is the 12MBps when writing in the NAS, they got 75MBps in their test using the original firmware.

Needless to say, my disc reach up to 185MBps when connected to a PC so my bottleneck could be in the software side.

can you recommend a powerful ddwrt compatible router?

I have and old wrt54g ver.2 linksys router. and it likes to drop out all the time or lose connect with the head end and I have to reset it all the time by powering it off and back on, and it has the latest firmware. Cell phones connect to them run slower than they do on the cell phones network, is this because the routers are so old they are to out dated. I have had problems with them and charter a few years ago and that is when I had to do the first firmware upgrade because it would not connect to any charter cable modem until the firmware was upgraded.

do not buy it. this router so terrible, reboot or speed drop. you may find many issues on linksys community forum and firmware no update.

Faster router won't make your internet connection faster. Your bandwidth is caped by the ISP.

This thing is very unreliable in 5ghz, constant reboots. This is a common problem. Wish Cnet would point these out before consumers dish out their hard earned money for this piece of junk. I bought the Asus RT-AC68U and had no problems.

I bought the netgear nighthawk at target about 2 weeks ago for $158 tax included. The Linksys is on sale now for $217 taxes included. Should I return it for the Linksys or there won't be much difference?
