I feel like people like Shane have been crusified for the mistakes of entire generations. I have been watching shane since 2008. You could say I grew up with him, I am part of a generation that made a lot of mistakes, weird jokes about kids, jokes about trans people, people of asian descent etc etc. I MADE THOSE JOKES and I watched other people make those jokes, it was way too normalized. I am glad I was educated enough further in life that these things are NOT OK. But I feel like people like Shane have been crusified for everyone's mistakes... But nobody is gonna come crucify me for saying absurd shit, or for laughing when Shane said them and that's because I am not famous and there's no video evidence. But I did laugh and I did make awful mistakes and I know that I never intented to hurt anyone, and more importantly, I am not a pedo, I am not racist or transphobic... I made generational mistakes and I had the privillage to learn about then in the softest way possible, through educational videos. But the people who are actually cancelled, they had to learn in the harshest, cruelest ways. Shane saying he wanted to take his own life was so painful to hear, I would probably feel the same way too if I were him. This is where cancel culture went too far... attacking the individual instead of the mass issue.

I remember a video of him and Trisha Paytas looked down a 15 or 16 year old boys pants to see what underwear he was wearing. That's definitely a red flag. It's not normal. It's immoral. It wasn't like he showed them, they pulled his pants from the back and looked down there. It was disturbing

Good for Shane for seriously considering everything that he did, everything he went through & obviously trying to do better. We all eff up, over & over again in most cases, but we all also grow & that never stops. Too many in society today get too much of a kick by pulling others down under the pretence of being offended. It should be "council culture" instead of cancel culture. Just educate the person in question, help their ignorance & move on. Offending isn't physically harmful & yet we pretend it is. This is about our need as humans to group together in selective outrage & that is what needs to change. The day I stop learning, growing & changing is the day I'll be ready for this sh:te to be over.

I believe most people have the ability to grow as people and I think Shane can grow as a person despite what some people say but with the way he talks about the "cancelation" sometimes, it still feels like he doesn't think he should've been called out for his actions. Yeah cancel culture can be toxic but there were plenty of people at the time who weren't being toxic about it and to make it seems like his "cancelation" was just woke bs is completely wrong. 

I'm sure after years of having your "humor" and skits praised it must be jarring to all of a sudden be attacked for said content and I suppose its natural to feel defensive about what you did because so many people used to be ok with it, so it still feels like he has a ton of self reflection and growing to do after years of validation. Like that must do something to you and make you feel like deep down you're not deserving of what happened and it's like, did he ever actually grow out of feeling like that?? It literally took him until 2020 to actually be confronted with his past actions and correct me if I'm wrong but all the offensive and controversial videos were still up until that time. If he could go years without taking down those videos or addressing that horrible things he's said and done simply because he felt bad, that to me is really telling of the type of person he is.
