I would just like to point out to everyone in here some piece of important historic information that will do justice to this dance.

This is one of the oldest dance in the history of civilization, coming from Sumaria, present day Iraq.

The choreography is based on wheat processing after harvesting to get the grains. The legs movement is based on thudding the ground to extract the grain from the spike of the wheat, the hand movement is to ram the mortar on the spikes, and the hair movement used to work as a scarecrow to scare the birds away from gathering around the workers & feeding of the processed grains.

The Sumerians inhabited the southern part of Mesopotamia, which is present day Iraq today.

Iraqi people to this day still perform this dance & the associated music for it is the base for the Arabic music.
