Tape shouldn’t replace house wrap as it tends to fish mouth and funnels water directly into openings in the sheathing. It’s just a way for contractors to slap homes up faster IMO.

Best and fastest is sprayfoam windows after plum and shimmed...will make watertight and locks windows into wall..secured properly...no need for all that tape and other crap...big waste

Zip tape is crap. There’s a better version of it but it’s slightly more expensive. Zip tape can’t get stuck on everything. Zip system is overprice shit

Good process I like to oversize my window jamb extensions by 1/8" to allow for the deficiency at the finish stage for my finish carpenter Seems to be a forgotten issue for many builders

I've never had a problem stretching the regular tape, but carry on.

products have come a long way, we were using roof shingles to rap windows years ago. I think Miami-Dade & Broward County Florida, were the first to use, 6" tape on the roof sheathing, as a second water barrier.

Creating a slight gradient so water won’t sit is even better.

The engineer actually in fact perfected his techniques with playing with stretch marks. Fun fact ❤

Stretch tape? Really? The narrator acts like this is some grand new invention. Never heard of electrical tape? It's pretty damned stretchy, although not normally wide enough for this application, but stretchy tape is not new.

What is the additional cost using all the components of the ZIP system on a 2000 sq ft home? Including labor.

Been building 25 yrs. I honestly think this new installment method is overkill and the costs of this tape is absurd. It’s a superior method but not entirely necessary. Hubberwood did some excellent marketing and is making a killing off ZipSystem

Slope your lower silly. Every window will leak. Entire opening must be taped for vapor barrier envelope

Does anyone use hot tar instead of all this sketchy tape stuff? Seems like it would be ideal and super forgiving even with sloppy application.

As a professional carpenter , this products life expectancy is only about 10 years. However, copper flashings life expectancy is 50 years , stainless steel is 100 years, and I always choose longevity
