I wonder what Indonesian conscripts would have thought of the Finnish climate.

Dutch fleet is not that big. It only has 2 coastal defense ships a couole if destroyers and that is it

Okay so if this was IRL probably Greater Finland and Japan would then jointly take on the Allies (as it is probably easy to pull in Japan to help) and then finally the two would turn on each other near the end and things would become full chaos?

So, gave this a try. Everything was fine, got the Netherlands, puppeted the East Indies and set up a defensive line (though not the same as seen in the video, as there's a supply hub just on the northern side of Ladoga, so I needed to cover that as well, which meant I had to push the line a bit further out, but otherwise mostly the same) and then I just waited. And everything fell apart almost immediately.
Germany capped Poland in record time, but completely stalled in Belgium and never got past that point. They didn't start Barbarossa until -44, and well. It didn't end well. For the Soviets, they started the Winter War, pushed into Petsamo, advanced about 3-4 tiles and stopped. Just a compete halt. in 1940. And they only started moving when Germany started Barbarossa. By 1948 when I called it quits, I had 4k casualties to their 140k (and 90% of that came from 3 naval landings that I squashed. They attacked my actual line maybe four times in a single tile. That was all of their offensives). And the war also spiraled into a weird free-for-all, where China was in the Allies, but the Chinese United Front was still a thing, that ended up in a war with the USSR, while Japan and the US had their own private kerfuffle (US lost Hawaii...), but then Japan attacked Indochina, so that pulled the Allies into it...
And yes, this was Historical w/ Ironman, and basically no mods (Coloured Buttons and FPS map). No idea what rocks the AI ate, but that was definitely a weird one even for me, and I usually play non-historical with Road to 56.... I'll have to try this again, since the basic idea still seems to work, I just need the AI to be more aggressive and actually attack me this time...

Finnland in hoi4 is seriously lacking, they don't even put in the White Death the best sniper in history with over 500 kills, Simö Häyhä, it's about time a company based in Sweden actually gives some flavor to the Nordic countries, otherwise that's a bunch of Perkele

It's probably actually better to go red now because you can get the Ideological Loyalty military spirit which gives you like 50k manpower by the time the Soviets attakc

Question, how do you micro when you have a battle plan set, when I do it the aí just takes over what ever order I tell the unit to do

Struggling a bit with this one. I was able to easily take Leningrad but now the Soviets are literally not attacking me. It's November 1940 and they still haven't even walked all the way into the wide open northern area. Idk why they are so incompetent, I'm just sitting here doing nothing but losing trains to logistics bombing. I didn't build up crazy strong forts or anything, just level 4. I guess I will try attacking during Barbarossa but I fear that without the massive losses the Soviets will be too strong.

So, after pretty much following this guide, and using Barbarossa and the latest patch by 09/19/2022, I ended up at war with the Soviets and I found out some things:
1- If you build up your army like the guide specifies, the Soviets won't actually attack you because between their lines and yours there's a lot of ground that's basically a "no-mans-land" where supply is almost unexistent, both for you and for them, so beware if you counterattack. You can use this to your advantage in Northern Finland, but be aware of going too far and getting divisions encircled.
2- If you feel you have enough good divisions, you can actually make a push towards Petrozavodsk to cut the railway towards Murmansk and at the same time take the supply hub for you.
3- While all this is happening, you'll be better off improving relations with Germany, Italy and Japan (and for that matter, everyone who's willing to give you some stuff) in order to be able to hold the line and counterattack the Soviets when the Germans invade, especially to compensate every truck and train you lose because of Soviet bombing (use armored trains maybe?)
4. Just in case, recruit some garrisons for your ports (10w with artillery and engineers will do just fine), in case the Soviets decide to naval invade Helsinki or any other port. A couple of coastal forts will also be of help to disuade the Soviets from invading you that way. Frontline divisions I used 9-1 (9 infantry-1 artillery) with engineers, maintenance, and support artillery and anti-air.
4- I used three collaboration governments in the USSR (remember to us localized training agencies to avoid your spies getting caught all the time). For some reason, though, I still had to reduce their victory points to 20% in order to cap them. I still got the compliance benefits though, and I was able to flank the Romanians and the Germans for control of most of the territory east of Moscow and Stalingrad.
5- If you have some spare mills, build Transport Planes. It's literally impossible to advance your frontlines without them after taking Leningrad (you can take it pretty much at the start of the war) and without military access from the Germans (I actually don't know if your supply vehicles can use Supply Hubs taken by a "neutral" faction; so be aware of it when you push the Soviets past Velikiye Luki and before you get to Rzhev and Moscow.
6- Despite evertyhing I explained so far, achievement didn't fire for me, so I'm about to backstab the Germans while holding off the Japanese because they declared on the East Indies after I capped the USSR. I even managed to cap the Soviets with the most warscore, even surpassing the Germans and Romanians, but I couldn't capture Moscow even though I took part in the battle to capture the city, so maybe achievement didn't fire because of it. If anyone can help me with what to do next, I'd really appreciate it.

Makes sense England would initiate war on a Finland occupying SO much land and expanding like wildfire. It is part of the reason they took on Germany.
