IS it worth the price I paid?

About the exterior room doors.... The design and door materials would have been part of the original build contract with a supplier with warranties for workmanship and materials. This would have been a massive contract and the supplier is likely working with Shangri-la hotels on a fix. Given the hotel is 100% operational, imagine the logistics and costs for repairing/replacing each door. The cost is not only the door but the labour, taking a revenue-generating hotel room off-line, and the possible noise the guests would encounter during the repair/replacement of hundreds of doors. A service elevator (used for the repairs) could impact the other services of hotel (cleaning, room service, etc.). You could possibly see the supplier (and sub-contractors) encounter financial difficulties from this problem.

I'm curious if you have ever carried a UV light? Or is it better not knowing what biological horrors await you in bed.

Great work Tim, you almost make it unnecessary for me to visit your stays as I feel I've been there already.

I stayed at the Shangri-La Fijian Resort on Yanuca Island in Fiji back in November 1997. It was stunning, Also took my Late Mum to the top of the Shard, Great views.

You got robbed! That is no way a five star experience. The mattress, the doors, the exposed wiring, the cheap appliances, the general wear and tear of the whole place, and the bizarre egg situation. That is at best a three star hotel with an incredible view.

For that price I would of complained about the mattress been damp. Great views.

Use whichever hands feel most comfortable for your knife and fork. 👍

It does need some attention in places doesn’t it, you wouldn’t expect those things you pointed out there.
For what you pay I would’ve liked my breakfast bought to me. I’m not really keen on buffet when people touch everything often putting tongs on top of food they’ve handled & possibly talking over food 😖 yes Gaby I like a menu too. Lovely to see you should’ve kept that one for a special occasion x

When you pay to stay in a high end hotel like this, you expect high attention to detail. Even the small things should be perfect. Things like the mattress being dirty and the doors damaged immediately puts me off.

Love your work. I like how you and your missus give honest reviews, even of luxurious places like this.

Seems like you both manage to make money out of this while maintaining your integrity.

An interesting vlog Tim and the hotel has great views, but I don't think I would spend that much on a 1 night stay. Just to compare, I had a week in Austria half board at a 4 star hotel including flights for a similar cost. I know where I'd rather go!
