This is a great video and is probably going to make me make the switch I was worried that at 1440p the upgrade from my 5900x wasnt going to be worth it. But i do want to note that your system could use some optimization with my 5900x and my 3080 i get an average of 184 low 5th 150 low 1 132 and my cpu avg 227 - 188 - 162 with a 2% bottleneck and my gpu 189 - 151- 139

I can’t believe how much performance I’ve lost with each update. The game dropped and I had a solid 180-190 fps with the same settings, and now I’m seeing 130-140. I’ve tried fresh windows installations, disabling services, redownloading shaders, blah blah blah. It’s the game and it’s shitty development.

Also, you are running this with two different gpu drivers…

You would have better results if you removed the sharpening to even out the load between gpu and cpu

Hm same situation here 5900X and RTX 3080 but my display resolution is 3440x1440 so my RTX has to draw 34% more pixels, do you think the "upgrade" from my 5900X to the 5800X3D is worth the effort? Can you maybe make a short test and set the virtual (supersampling) resolution to 3440x1440?

That 3200cl16 is definitely killing the 1% lows on both chips.

the 5900x is a better cpu but games can tutilize all of the cores so the 5800x3d is better for gaming

Seriously? Labled 5800x3d but in MSI Afterburner it shows your CPU is 5900x. Really now...

thanks for the video, can you make more tests in other games too not only this one. like cyberpunk 2077 and other new games, starfield etc.

I saw the same performance but 5900x looks like with 30% usage while 5800x3d had 50%. So, apparently if you want just to play games, go with 5800. If you want to play and stream, it's important to have 5900x. Considering both have exactly the same price, I can't understand WHY all the recommendations are focused into 5800x3d instead 5900x.

Two of your main components don't fit in for this test scenario. The mainboard is an old entry level B450 ( esp. the 5900X needs good VRM) and the RAM should be 3600Mhz. Considering your other components, you cheaped out at the wrong places...
For the X3d you should look into curve optimizer settings (ggolge for it if you don't know how). All chips are binned and tend to run ~4400-4500Mhz all core on load while running way cooler than stock settings. That and better RAM would give you a noticable boost.

test it on max settings to fully load the cpu and really see the performance deference
