For me, Zorin OS is the most usable. Distro. Mint is OK but it is not all that usable. Mint Mate is just simply bare bones.

"This is an advanced video, so we'll just recommend you delete google entirely. We even have a video on how to do just that."
SUBBED! So subbed.

Speaking of threat model, I often see people in security and privacy forums wanting to go all out with privacy and security, way beyond their threat model, often claiming that they want to keep the gov. out, but when asked if they are holding state secrets, they say no. I'm more than happy just using Linux rather than Windows, that's my threat model, telemetry and advertisements.

Real question is how do you Linux users know if the things you download and install are safe? Linux users talk about windows being unsafe because you download exe from the internet and blah blah blah. But literally everything that you download through any repository or website for apps, is just some software that some person or persons made lol. Then on top of that, AV isn't even promoted for Linux. Ironically one of, if not THE founding father of GNU, was a dam hacker who went as far as to say passwords are stupid and shouldn't be used. So as I am trying out Linux, I see more and more, how vulnerable Linux actually is. Yet it is promoted as being safe. I don't get it. The number one way to infect your computer is going to be through downloads and installs. Yet the method of which you do this through a Linux OS, is not even vetted. Or at least you have no real way to know whether it is or not. You are essentially relying on the word of the devs of whatever OS and software you download. That's CRAZY. Ironically this issue goes hand and hand with the whole free software thing. At least you can trust that a non free software company, will at least take this serious as it is their money in their pockets, that will be affected. Where as these OS and free softwares, are not making anything. So what is the incentive for these devs to properly vet programs that will be available for their OS? No incentive is the answer. Even worse is that, 90 percent of people using Linux cant read or write code. So even if they can look at code, they wont be able to spot anything unusual. So they have to rely on devs to make sure things are good to go. And if someone got into their computer, they wouldn't even know. So the majority of people saying Linux is safe, really have no idea whether their own computer is hacked or not LOL. I like Linux for certain reasons, and so I'm using it (for now), but I think that people should understand that it isn't any safer than Windows. As you essentially are just relying on the word of people who are making this software for free. They lose nothing at the end of the day. I would love to see a video made showing how hard or easy it is to hack into a Linux OS. Prove it, one way or the other. But what it will never be able to prove, is whether devs of software available for Linux, are truthful in saying their software is not malicious. Or devs of distros in telling you the truth, when they say they vet certain softwares. You will never know whether that is true or not, but can be certain they don't have anything on the line. On flathub for example, almost every single available software is labeled as "potentially unsafe" LOL. Like seriously. Just saying, that people should understand that their Linux OS is potentially more unsafe then windows. For me, I don't have anything on my desktop that is sensitive information. Like bank account, or identity. And nothing connects to me in the real world. But most people do. I don't have pictures or videos or work or school or etc, type stuff on my computer. So it inst that big a deal if someone hacks into my desktop, whether through malware or other. But most people it would be. Thanks for listening, hope people think about this problem and choose wisely.

Webcord is a good alternative when it comes to privacy in mind. I never have used base default discord for a few years now because of it and it gives me free nitro to use.

As a daily driver i highly encourage Parrot OS home edition. It's focused on security and privacy and it comes with anonSurf and other valuable tools.

You don't even need a fancy automatic updates app for updating Linux. Assuming you understand Linux, just setup a scheduled update system with cron to execute the apt weekly. It's really easy to do.

The fact that you suggested Fedora, Debian, and Arch proves your positive competence on the matter of "distros". The only people who argue "which is better" are noobs that don't realize that pretty much all distros are merely forks of those 3 source distros. The only other people who throw a fit over distro's are the Gentoo crew; but that deserves a conversation in and of itself.

Great video. Subscribed.

Seems very comprehensive; I do the beginner and intermediate parts as a matter of course but I just realized how exhausting it is.
