I am having 1 question....
I want to check n number of server at a time (may use of for loop) .how to write the script for this ?
Example : I will store n number if IP's in notepad and I will call the text file in script as a input. (That is Ip1 ,Ip2.... Like that). And finally I want to get the output as

IP1 IS ALIVE
IP2 IS ALIVE
IP3 IS IS NOT reachable
IP4 IS ALIVE
..............N number of server

How to solve the problem...

let me explain plz, so your script you are running it is only for one server / Local server, and that script will check if the server is up (live) or down right ..???
so what i want is how to do it for a multiple list servers, can you run that script agains 10 servers and get the result echo to text file.

Thanks, good try. One small note: You can actually use intervals without having to run ping as super-user, while your intervals are greater than 0.2 seconds.
