Analog RYTM MK2 // Full review, tutorial // Pros and cons for Elektron's top drum machine

This thing seems so cool, but I haven’t been hearing very good kicks out of it in demos and jams. A little too quiet and midrangey with a super low sub rumble. I would definitely have to sample my Drumbrute Impact kicks for a fatter kick sound.

I recently picked up one of these from The Moog Store in Asheville. It’s very immediate, it sounds incredible, and it feels bombproof (I’ve encountered instruments twice the price that don’t feel nearly as solid).

I’ll be discovering the depths of this thing for years to come.

I got my hands on one of these a good couple of months back, I’m still a learner as in a noobee thanks for your wicked, well explained and easy to follow reviews and examples, thanks again I always get a lot from your videos especially with gear I got but this Mach I love so really enjoyed and understand this a lot better❤

Bought a new Rytm MK2 this week after spending time using a friend's and my favorite drum synth so far and easy to get great tracks built. I love modular drums but the workflow is hard to beat and drum pads nice touch. Good holiday sale helped me choose over Perkons that costs more and does less. Agree the sampler is ok but I have a Roland SP 404 MK2 and Elektron Octatrack for those tasks. I would sample modular drums into the Rytm and save need to haul cases of gear to a gig. This Rytm and an SP 404 can do shows with ease.

i was so close to an mk2 today, but you know what i think im gonna stick with the mk1 for now. its basically an mk1 with better buttons and a couple of extra functions, better screen. personally i dont tihnk its worth it for the price compared to prices of mk1s second hand.

Love mine. Not perfect, but still one of the best options available. I only wish I bought it sooner. Zero regrets!!

I like using the keys for previewing sounds over the pads, only because the pads always trigger the sound at a consistent velocity.
Speaking of keys, I had read that some people were unhappy with the keys on the Rytm because they're not terribly tactile. Having one now, I'd say I love these keys. They aren't clicky, sure, but they are very satisfying.

What do you think of this Vs the Syntakt?

Nice and very useful video man! Just one thing, the library may contain ca. 4000 sounds, in my Rytm I found only 128 .... where from can I add some more??? Tnx!

I had a MK1 back in the day that was way over my head as an MPC guy. Fell in love with digitone and Syntakt and might have to revisit this

Can you parameter lock as many different parameters as you want on the same step? Or is there a limit?

Had the model:Cycles for a year or so yhen went all in the ARmkII after getting familiar with the elektron workflow. THIS is a drum machine. The best one out right now. 💪🏾

If the effects are put after the compressor do they affect the external instrument plugged in?

Hi I am always maxing out the trig lock memory and I thought these were stored within patterns but when I select a new pattern the memory still says filled even when I delete a few trig locks. Is there a workaround or am I doing something wrong? I thought I could maybe switch between global slots but that doesn’t seem to solve it either. How do I best get around this issue thanks in advance

How is this popular having SO much menu-diving?

So you can choose between the Elektron Rytm or the Jomox Alpha Base. Both support samples on top of a synth. Both are (partly) analog. Both have parameter locks. I do have both for testing on my desk right now.
