Good video I like it. It's now $219. My GOSH . LOL.
ОтветитьGreat review. I am a huge fan of down sleeping bags, but wow, for $50... Thous seems great for the price and purpose you stated.
I guess this was in a way just as much a review of that thermometer as it was thd sleeping bag. The thermometer didn't seem to do quite as well.
I think the bottom.line is -20° is bullshit and the heft is huge not practical for carrying regardless of where ur at
ОтветитьI guess digital temp readers are trash amd the bag is decent maybe i learned that lol thanks every bit of info amd am honest opinion helps
ОтветитьI have an honest question not being facetious at all but this is the second or third video ive seen with the super cold temperatures amd you cannot see the persons breath. Is there some reason for this or is the smell test lacking?
Ответить8 months later it's still marked down to 50 and I'm actually considering it so hoping this review is revealing blunt open amd honest!!!! Thanks for the video
ОтветитьYou need a pad with a decently high R value under you, or you are gonna be cold from the ground.
ОтветитьI think you just help midway sell a chit load of these sleeping bags. Thanks man for taking one for the team. Great review
ОтветитьAs a former resident of North Dakota, this was a great video! Thanks for taking the time and putting in the effort on this subject!
ОтветитьIn winter conditions you would want a matt and to be on the ground for insulation. Cold air underneath you will affect temperature
ОтветитьI think it's time to dump the temperature reader. After the first 5 erroneous reading, it lost all credibility and just wasted time.
ОтветитьVery well worth $50
What are the materials? Outer, inner lining and stuffing? Goose down?
You can use a flannel sleeping bag liner which will bring you more warmth and it will help keep the bag itself cleaner and dryer. Silk also makes a good liner and it will wick perspiration away from you as you sleep.
ОтветитьThe things you go through to bring us good videos 😂 thanks, I have been wondering about the validity of these ultra warm bags.
ОтветитьThanks for the video, I ended up getting a Rab Ascent 1100 rated for -13° F (lower limit sleep temperature) for $229 (discounted sale price) here in the UK. Weighs in at 3.84 lbs so can be used for hiking and for a Bug Out Bag. Made in the UK as well.
-25° C, 1.75 Kg and £190. So many conversions. LOL
I went ahead and ordered one of these bags today. Needed to order a few other things from Midway. So got a bag also.
ОтветитьYou know what. You stuntmaning this kit is pretty awesome. You can be the "Super Dave Osborne" of the Prepper world. Lol
ОтветитьDo you have a discount code for Midway?
ОтветитьHas Blue's Clues become so ingrained in our culture that "our handy dandy... ___." just slips into everyday speech, or did I just watch way too much Blue's Clues as a kid?
Ответитьyes agree a good bag is important ... but even having a reasonable bag is a life savour
ОтветитьThank You for suffering on our behalf, I would now consider buying this where doubts may have existed for cost/rating, etc.
Ответитьlol, you need to test your thermometer next video.
ОтветитьI still would be wearing layers even in a good sleeping bag in cold weather. Got a couple of Russian military cold weather bags before the war and they are amazing.
ОтветитьThe military taught me to, never use a sleeping bag without a bivy bag. Keeps you warm and dry, plus it is much easier to clean than a sleeping bag. In the field PJ's are No-Go.
ОтветитьYou posted: "And I only spent an hour outside as it was very cold..." From that statement my verdict is, it really didn't work. And it's just an Ad to support your sponsor.
Ответить3 layers under for every layer over is how we tent camped in sub-zero weather in the boy scouts. I'm a wool blanket fan, so double that over and put the bag on top.
ОтветитьYeah, I'd say 50 bucks vs freezing to death is worth 50 bucks.
ОтветитьHe just pointed that laser at his cock , fair enough, I would do the same.
ОтветитьFun video. I like u doing an actual gear test, to see if it works.
ОтветитьI have a Browning sleeping bag. Very heavy but use when I go hunting in a cabin. That thing is very comfortable and super warm. Had it for 12 years too and zero problems.
ОтветитьWith the Chinese balloon entering over Montana you'd think MP would go live, but since news broke of it entering American airspace my phone has been going bonkers, and I'm in Indiana...makes me wonder if they're jamming, anyone else?
Ответитьtime to buy a new thermometer ...clearly
ОтветитьA thermal break and a wool lining will make the cheap sleeping bag even better.
ОтветитьYup, I have that sleeping bag. Have used it several times in -0° weather for winter camping. Love it
ОтветитьThank you! I've been looking at sub zero bags for months not really knowing much about them or trusting Amazon reviews. The reviews on midway are great for these. 4 on the way
Ответитьthere are military extreme cold weather surplus bags. They are heavy but man they are warm and very rugged
If you are looking to stay warm you MUST have insulation between you and the ground. The best bag will not stop cold from beneath you
A 'good' nights sleep is 'critical' in a survival situation. It is 'needed' to regenerate the body & mind for the next days work. And because a person is IN a 'survival situation', there is also an increase of STRESS draining on the body & mind... If your not 'comfortable' your not going to sleep well (I'm talking REM sleep). It only takes 2 to 3 bad nights on a person where they are in the same situation as being DRUNK. And Drunks make bad decisions.
ОтветитьYou should have hung an outside thermometer on the fence next to you... Your laser is wacko... I vote for a 'DO-OVER'.
ОтветитьVery good subject (sleep) that can't be over stressed. A little better prep next time on sleep. THANKS.
ОтветитьI bought a Browning mummy bag in 2017 from Midway and it was clearance priced at around 50 bucks, and it works pretty well.
ОтветитьSo..seeing that 70 degrees, American,.. is a far cry away from freezing to death .I would guess then, .it’s pretty safe to say..that it....pretty much is gonna keep you from dying…good bag…
ОтветитьGood video! It sounds like the bag did its job. Even in sort of a worst case senerio. I think that you would have been significantly warmer if you weren't laying directly on the lounge chair. Your weight compresses the insulation beneath you, which dramatically reduces its insulating properties. With some kind of pad I think your experience would have been better.
BTW, the reference on the fit with your size was helpful. I'm an inch taller then you, and about 10 lbs heavier than you. I have a very difficult time finding bags that I fit into comfortably. I barely fit into the bag that I use now. Also, I find that a wool stocking cap helps me stay much warmer than otherwise.
Edit: Well okay! I just noticed half the other comments said the same thing! It was still a very interesting video. I'm sure we've all wondered on a cold night "How well is this thing working anyway?"
I guess the bottom line here is that the snow didn't appear to be melting and you weren't cold, that is a pass.
ОтветитьLooks like it keeping your junk warm, very awkward watching you check that over and over.
ОтветитьDon't think about being much larger than 6'3"... like is 6'6" too much?
ОтветитьYes! Thinking of sunny southern Salifornia!😎
ОтветитьGarmin solar ?
ОтветитьI got a -40 rated sleeping bag on clearance a few years back. It was regularly $450. It was missing the bag for storing it so I got it for $100. I’ve slept in -35 c in Canada’s Yukon and it was very warm. It’s a large bag but I love it.
ОтветитьI've got 2 bags I use, A cheapo (~$50) bag and an ultralight ($400+) bag. When it's really cold you can bet I use the cheap / heavy / bulky one, and if needed add a liner, make sure i'm on top of some sort of pad and maybe throw an extra blanket on top if it's really bad. Oh and wear a hat too !
ОтветитьUse a pad. Helps. Then also go to bed with a jacket and pants on. Helps allot. Nice sleeping bag for the price. I got a couple 20 degree sleeping bags for 20 dollars each. They were on sale at dicks sporting goods. But been looking for a couple negative temp sleeping bags. This one just might do the trick.
