Making Firework Stars with Aluminum Foil

Something you can do to dry without heat and even in a humid climate: get Epsom salt. Bake the Epsom salts in a cake pan, water boils away from the salts. Then let that cool and break the resulting cementlike paste in the pan. Place in a tupperware with a lid. When you wish to dry your stars you can place them in the tupperware with the dried product of the baked Epsom salt and it will suck the water out of your stars and with a quickness. This is magnesium sulfate. It is used as a dessicant in chemistry. Hope this helps. Cheers

I advise you to mill the foil in a coffee grinder. Gives good results in glitter comps

I made a batch stars with Al, and got much better results by grinding it in my ball mill for a few days. It's very much worth it makes very nice tails🤘🤘

Try making a small shell and put some aluminum shavings where the BP is. I mean, just put shavings in the charge inside the shell. They should lit up during the explosion and create white circles/dots in the sky. I used aluminum wire to get some shavings from it. Works and looks pretty good in the sky ;D

Boric acid will buffer the AL and oxidizer reaction, especially if you're going to store the composition for any length of time. Stay safe, my fellow pyro!

If you soak the tissue in sodium bicarbonate, or baking soda it will be much less likely to catch on fire. Soak it in a water and soda mixture and then let it dry.
