For you people that use the ray-traced feature a lot in AE ,what settings/system specs do you have? I'm on a 2010 imac and it is mad slow in every draft form.

Adobe Creative Cloud about 20$ per month for students and 40$ for others. Autodesk 3D Studio Max free for students, for commercial use 4000$ but this amount of money you can get in 2 months time when you work in range of post/modesign. Element 3D ? Cool but I don't recommend using it as your main 3D tool. Must have plugins in AE are: Particular and Form. Did I miss something ?

I'm afraid you're misinformed. The car model was made in a 3D modelling application, it was rendered using Element 3D in After Effects.

Not always, the plugins business is a relatively new thing for VC.

"Physics" in this case is a gross exaggeration, it's a keyframed animation.

No, the rig is like a skeletal system for the car model that allows you to animate it easier. Things like how much the wheels turn, how much suspension there is for each wheel, how the body of the vehicle rocks back and forth, these are all turned into properties for ease of use.

No, just the dynamics and physics that makes it move and react like a real car.
