I rocked a 2012 13” i5 MacBook Pro until 2021 when the M1 MacBook Air took it’s place. The old 2012 is still with me though. After getting a 256GB SSD and a 2TB in place of the optical drive it now does duty as my home server. I keep her up to date with OpenCore Legacy Patcher and Ventura runs very well. This is the best decision I’ve made as it works flawlessly.

720p is fine for running FreeBSD / OpenBSD / GhostBSD, etc on these for programming work, in fact I'd recommend this as the FIRST budget option for a student or professional on a budget. Do not buy these for any sort of content creation, you can get something like an old HP workstation with a xeon for that at around the same price. These are super comfortable to use and type on and I always find I work longer on my old unibody macbook than any of my newer thinkpads or even desktops.
