Not only does this help for nostalgia and aesthetics but the older start menus are actually wwaaaaaaaaayy more functional than the ones microsoft has been introducing with 10 and 11. Thanks a lot for the tutorial this makes the user experience so much more simple

I'd like to see the complete opposite of this, Windows XP with all of the features of 8, 8.1, 10 and 11, and the features from Vista. Microsoft store, Hypervisor, apps, LSA and WSA, widgets, screensavers, sounds, fonts, themes, all of it. Some of the GUI stuff might require transformation packs and third party software, and some of the features might require new software to be written, but there's no reason it couldn't be done at all. I don't see why nobody has done this and modernized XP to use on newer systems. There are fakes, like Windows XP 2021 and Windows XP 2023, no links or anything to download.

Can't you just replace the windows 11 .dll file with the win xp one?

I loved xp I use windows xp ever since it's release it was such a great version There's is a way to change paint or notepad or write or calculator you can replace windows 11 with with windows xp by just replacing xp version into each folders that these apps are in like they go into the window folder and system32 folder and accessories folder need get tske ownership for widows folder snd system32 or get a bootable hiren’s bootcd pe x64 to help you with them changes. There's a debloted version of windows called windowsxlite he does a amazing custom winfows builds. There's is a prebuilt window 10 build called windows 10 xp experience update edition.

Hmm I could/can do far more on my Windows XP system than any subsequent versions of Windows. Only Windows 7 had a better search function. I have so much software for it from typing programs, MS Streets and Trips, Office, many many games (you cannot even play games without Steam after that), a built in fax machine that I've used several times, to Encarta encyclopedia.

been trying to make this work on two monitors for hours now its making me pull my hair out. when I click the start button my home menu appears on my second monitor but when I have a tab open on my main monitor Its in place idk how to fix it

I main vista. Xp is good but i need chrome 116 which i have on vista. Windows 11 belongs in the garbage however at least with this it doesn't look like a stupid chromebook.

It was easier for me because I could install the Windows XP Icon Pack like a programme. Then I only had to run the programme, restart the PC and all the icons in Windows Explorer were automatically changed.

You should also install a Windows XP icon pack, in addition you should have an icon folder from an XP Theme. That allows you to change the Icons in the start menu and with customizer god you can change the WLAN icon on the taskbar. With a registry hack, you can change the volume change box to classic. The Windows XP icon pack changes the icons in your explorer. Then you can use ribbon disabler if you want and Old/New Explorer to make your Windows explorer more classic. Themes are only recommended to a limited extent because it often happens that they no longer work after a Windows update. You also need a third party theme patcher like Ultra UX Theme Patcher. If you want to make your Windows 10 or 11 look as close as possible to Windows XP, you need Windows Blinds, but you have to pay for it. I used a Windows XP theme, and it worked for exactly 1 year, after that it no longer worked. There is a way to change the task manager and use the old system configuration. You can download and install this as a programme from the Internet. The programme is called Classic Task Manager + msconfig for Win 10 and 8.

I ran Win XP for 9 years and would still be running it if not for Microsoft's critical error update which crashed my system. I called and complained only to hear that I should upgrade to Vista at the time, As Microsoft wouldn't be offering any more updates for XP. I had to buy a new computer after the update which killed my whole computer, Got Win Vista lasted 7 months before I had major issues with it as I wasn't online enough to get all the updates to keep it running. 1 month later bought an old used laptop with XP and ran it for 2 years without Microsoft updates and it worked perfectly. Moral of the story Microsoft doesn't care about you only making money at the customer's expense. In 2011 bought a new win 7 pc and updated to 8 in less than a day, After 13 days Microsoft allowed an upgrade to 8.1, After that and still to this day 12 years later still using 8.1. Got a newer win 11 computer 3 weeks ago, Now just wishing I hadn't wasted my money, Useless OS!!!!!!!! May as well me Miloonium Edition.

does this fix the grouping problem? In win 11 we can't choose not to group same elements on taskbar. If I have 3 folders opened, do I see all 3 of them on taskbar or just a group? EDIT: also in the menu are recently opened files, can I disable this?
